From the footage the shot went high and got Kirk in the throat, about a foot above his heart.

I have watched it (inadvertently).

The way he collapsed instantly from the neck down, his head flopped back and he made zero effort to grab at the wound (arms dropped to his sides) indicates a severed spine to me (along with a destroyed artery going from the immediate blood loss)

It was mercifully quick.

From the force of the impact and sound of the round, my guess is a high-powered rifle. 308 or higher. Maybe even 338.

Shooter didn’t take into account cosine effect, rounds from an elevated angle have less drop. Less drop = shot going high.

Without knowing ballistic details it’s impossible to know but seems like someone with experience with a rifle but without advanced knowledge or training.

Doubt he was aiming for the neck. It was likely a head shot that dropped and landed low. Scope probably wasn't zeroed properly, or just messed up the shot.

people suspect its because of his politics, meaning someone who disagrees with him did it

but we don't know

There's also this idea currently that racism is just a political opinion and therefore equally valid as someone saying raise welfare payments or fund public health

he was part of the machine that is stoking violence and hatred among the population

people have been dying to political violence for as long as people have been alive

there's much bigger examples happening right now globally of where the world is than one agitator in America getting killed

The Prime Minister of Yemen was assassinated on the same day, state sanctioned political violence

There was another school shooting in Colorado on the same day, something Charlie thought was an acceptable cost for people to have access to guns

indeed he was quite happy to call violence against his political opponents good, he helped foster this

Having a family doesn't make you a good person or your life more important, being young doesn't make you a good person or your life more important

A discussion on whether we he was doing hate speech is a fair one to have. But people saying “people shouldn’t be killed for speaking” don’t need to be called out.

Yeah this is the crux of it. And the thing is I sort of understand an assassination attempt on Trump, I don't think it's right but he's an actual politician, Kirk is just a commentator, a very influential one of course.

Really I think he was killed because of the right wing influence he's having on younger people, he really did help Trump win the last election which probably put a target on his back.

We do not know but it would be a reasonable assumption the vitriol he received on Collegiate campuses lead to some on the far left believing this as justification for murder. Some of the comments on X, etc would also indicate this. He agitated the rights of some which should happen as part of any political discourse; otherwise what is the point of open dialogue?

Having a mother explain to a 3 and 1 year old why their Dad was assassinated for "preaching" his cause simply should not happen. If you don’t like the man just ignore or find a candidate to challenge him.
