Id cut Harry Barnett a year early for a 2 year Neale deal in a heartbeat

I know our sample size is really small, but last years draft suggested that Duane Massey doesn't try to outsmart other recruiters in the way Rohan O'Brien. Took the sensible picks when they presented themselves, rather than the half back with midfield potential who was highly rated as an under-16.

If we keep 1 & 2, we're probably going Duursma & CDT.
If we trade out one of those picks, I'd bet we still take CDT because no one else in the draft comes with his skillset. Meanwhile if we miss out on Duursma, there's a few mids who would be handy in our side with a later pick.

Still a fair way out from the draft, but the Duursma + CDT calls aren't going away. Resigning myself to that outcome. Hoping we can trade up to grab another highly rated mid (Sharp, Cumming) and then I'll be happy. Compo will be interesting if we can prelist all our NGA kids too.

I remember the Chesser calls got real loud in the media but that was only a few days before the draft from memory. That turned out to be accurate. Ginbey + Hewett was pretty much locked in in advance too, as was Bo. That may have been the media simply linking us to the WA boys, but still. Was accurate.

Might have to set up a Tyler to Tytler autocorrect before I go full Marsden.

It’s Schubert and Cumming. Schubert will make an outstanding CHB to at least to start his career. I would trade Duursma for those two in a second.

It’s a minor change. Watch a game of the girl afl and you’ll see it happens fairly rarely. Only applies if you kick or handball it and no one else touches it before it goes out. Just keep it inbounds

Underrated. He retired a year or two early and that when the wheels really fell off.

Nevertheless, I am keen on the trade period because watching the finals/footy is bullshit right now. I am hoping we can turn Pick 1 & 2 into three picks into the top 10 landing Sharp, Cumming, Schubert and F1 that will be top 5.

I heard an interview with him after he retired . He had been wearing career saver boots for 2 years . They are runners that look like footy boots but you lose Agility and kick length .

He also struggled to recover in time for the next game .

Great player and bowed out at the right time . At least he didn't do a gaff who was cooked and kept playing

Brendon Goddard + Daniel Wells actually sounds pretty good.

It’s often the depth that is judged, and let’s be honest it’s often the depth of Vic kids that determines weak v strong drafts. But this year SA and VC were quite strong - so it gets underrated. If anything that is better for us as VM kids mostly seem to have go-home challenges
