Gee thats rich. The government handed over $340 million for Kardinia park which hosts about 12 events a year.

Adults should have said no to that.
The stadium in Tassie is state changing.
They def host more than that

Just this year we'll see
  • 10 AFL games
  • minimum 5 AFLW games
  • 6 stand alone VFL games
  • 2 x BBL matches

Then there's other non sporting events held at stadium - some that utilise the ground, plenty more that use the function rooms

The KP Stadium Trust is also in the process of getting official confirmation of stadium capacity for concerts and other such events so that the options for the stadium are increased

Come on. How many are events? Should we get St Mary's under 10's to play to boost the profile?

Didn't BBL run cause the pitch was sh!t?

Two summers back the game was called off due to water damage on the pitch, last year it was a difficult pitch to bat but once in players seemed to go ok

The Gades will be back in Dec on the 15th & 21st to open their season as Marvel likely won't be in the best condition until January - it's not necessarily a popular decision with Gades fans who come from the other side of Melbourne, but as a Geelong local I don't mind

Cool I'll be there. Went 3 years back and was interviewed on the big screen before the game.

I don't think they walk away though. If I know anything about executive leadership in this country it's they are suckers for a sunk cost fallacy.
I really hope you're right. Tassie has deserved a team ever since we expanded to a national competition. But I'm wary of the AFL as an administration that makes a habit of choosing what is expedient over what is right. And I'm concerned that if they can't admit the Devils on their terms, they'll be walking away whistling while the wider footy world weeps.

I would never fly to Tassie to see an event without a roof.
Oh gee I wonder why big acts dont go to Tassie?

Taylor Swift current plays at venues that hold less than 23,000.
But like hell is she going to Tassie to play in front of 5,000 at the entertainment centre.

Tassie were just lucky that the Oils felt they owed it to Tassie to go and play there.
Funny thing was in 2017 I was recovering from treatment for a major illness. I went to Tassie to see the oils under a roof rather than freeze and possibly get wet at hanging rock.

So we were there together. Did you sign up for the conservation thing? Adani.
Ha ha, they were going hard.

All I want to see is people from the state of Tasmania being able to watch AFL footy . In their backyard.

So far they have been teased with snippets of AFL but the cost is you have to support a team from the mainland. Or just enjoy the atmosphere.

If the cost to have a shiny new stadium is too great so be it. Use the facilities that have been used so far.

People say .. no one will come in mid winter. Well they came to KP in any weather for decades and embraced the terraces. Mud,rain, full sun In face etc. Even when expecting a good win often meant a handbag outing.

Having their own outfit will soon see the Hawks and Kanga jumpers removed and the green job worn proudly. Both grounds get the Geelong treatment an are grown with the team.

The only thing Tassie needs is success.

The AFL have made sure Qland is fine, NSW, all good. And they have to continually convert citizens / help them embrace AFL as a game worth attending. No need in Tassie. They love the game.

The AFL has all the levers it needs. Giving the Devils the tools they need to build a club and become successful in a better way than they did with Suns and GWS ( Rugby "stars" with magic hand outs and embarrassingly poor skills anyone? )

It can be done.

If the AFL finds a way to get Tassie that success. All players chasing success will look south. Geelong was a no go zone when it came to attracting established top end Victorian talent. And lost some beauties. Even a captain walked out. Sleepy Hollow...

For Tassie
The NGA should be working overtime, home grown 18 year olds are discounted as Fsons are now, or even more, if chosen by the TFC in the draft. Grandfather Sons and daughters. Salary cap allowances especially for the coaching staff. Get the best coach and his choice of assistants on top money.

It's the AFL Australia is better with Tassie in it. Then we move on to the real AFL and the territories come next

Any way ..using up precious nervous energy . Hope everyone has a good evening.

Go Cats

I can’t remember. I ended seeing them another four times over the last few years. I just remember dancing like no one was watching because I was alive.
You were obviously on the left side of the stage 50 metres back kind of in the corner. I remember that area going nuts because I was front row right behind it.

Exactly. The roof is exorbitant. If you are playing 11 home games you might get a couple in June / July that have poor weather. No different to Geelong. No different to Queensland who had games cancelled this year for a storm FFS.

Hawthorn in Launceston has been successful in bringing tourists down at the existing facilities. North in Hobart not so much because North are garbage and have no travelling fans. If you have a proper Tassie team they are also playing the big VIC teams at home rather than WC, Freo, GWS, Port etc over and over again and supporters of the big VIC teams will travel for the experience regardless of the weather. Demand will outstrip supply as far as flights go even if all the softies that are scared of the cold stay home in VIC.

We are in the Grand final lads..going to be a relaxing night watching the second final tonight
Last night was sweet AF, especially since we beat Flogthorn, but the job isn't done yet. One more game to win.

On a more pressing matter, between the Pies and Lions, who do I barrack for (i.e easier to beat in the GF) this evening?

I think Lions are easier to beat in the GF..
  1. We beat them in the QF. We've the moz over them.
  2. They've to travel to Melbourne.
  3. More crowd-support for us.
  4. Injuries to Neale, Hipwood etc. Will Neale defy the odds?
  5. They played an extra game (albeit at home).
  6. They won last year. Less desperate to pull all stops?
Thoughts?
