I think you're right. But either way, where does that leave Ned? He's not yet a first choice for any of the stoppage roles. He's rotation.
Outside the 23 like Mitchell was. We’re not here to **** spiders.

He doesn’t have the smarts to be that defensive mid. We have the rolled gold option sitting in our back 7 who has that correct blend of defensive mindset, ball winning and leadership to bring it all together and it’ll be his role sometime soon 🤞
Adding Clarry to our midfield mix as well and suddenly we’ve gone up a couple of notches imo. Pendles looks like he’ll play for ever but he won’t of course. It’s an exciting prospect for a refresh.

Getting pick 6 for Rioli was an insane coup for Richmond. Such a ridiculous overpay
Agreed, this has distorted player values

If I was GC I would be hard on Melbourne - He's 30 by start of next year and didn't have a great year.... his inside 50 kicking has been horrible.

I'f i'm GC and taking on $1.4m a year then i'm offering a first and a 2nd round pick only

I mean, I'd be surprised if they are lying about offering the two years to keep him
Maybe one year with a trigger for a second if they thought he was worth keeping.
He looks a good prospect, but the way Sydney talk about him now you'd think he was Buddy Franklin...

I don't think he will be even if Oliver comes - at least very often. Sully only played 1 VFL game this year.
Sullivan came in to the 23 in place of JDG. That’s not a role Long can play to anywhere near the level of Sullivan. His lack of flexibility is going to see him struggle if Oliver comes across.

Yes he did.
Not sure what this has to do with pudding guts Oliver.
He'll remember you in particular when he combs the board for accolades or derision after we trade for him. You'll need to keep a sharp eye about you as you recline with a beer on the porch in the evenings. The bin lady will seem like Lady Diane by comparison to a revengeful redhead.

It's the perfect fit.

Pies need elite mids
Pies don't have much to pay
Dees don't want him
Dees want Checkers in a trade

Has that Houston type feel from last year.
Sure does have that feel , hopefully without the Houston first year blues output.

I wouldn't go that far. He's 23. He played the last 9 games of the year (I assume mostly becauise of injury to Amartey and McDonald) so they've put some time into him

I can understand they're at least somewhat disappointed

But let's be real, if they really believed in Buller, Amartey and McDonald they probably wouldn' tbe pursuing Curnow?

Oppo fans providing laughs.

“Collingwood can’t afford Oliver!!! I’m going to list you a million reasons why you can’t get him because he’s a star!!!!”

Collingwood land Oliver

“Just what Collingwood need, another slow midfielder!”

Don’t they change their tune…

No. They're ****wits

The assumption that he chooses a Club without his manager having prequalified I deal is highly unlikely.
No one’s wasting their time without a realistic starting point for both Clubs.
The assumption that Melbourne are in any position to demand or prequalify any deal under the circumstances is adorable.

Oliver was an AA at an age younger the Ned currently is. Actually find it crazy that people think Ned can ever get to Oliver's level, past or present.
Yep it’s actually laughable how some supporters in here are against Oliver and adamant we should just persist with Long when we have a chance to add one of the best contested players this game has ever seen to our list.

One was delisted by a 16th placed Hawthorn team and the other one was on his way of becoming the greatest demon ever, a shoe in for the hall of fame and is still one of the best contested players this game has ever seen (remember these graphics floating around the media during his contract talks and it’s not really a surprise why he was being offered the money he was)

Everyone talks about how ridiculous Clarrys contract was but geez they must have short memories and forgot how good he was and most clubs would have given him a similar contract at the time.

Not even a comparison between the two, even if we’re getting 2025 Oliver that’s still a massive upgrade on Long. The real upside? Clarry thrives under our coaching staff and environment and returns back to his best footy (at his best he’s the best contested ball winner in the comp) while paying him peanuts

Don’t really buy into the talk that he’s cooked, still only 28 and should have relatively fresh legs compared to other inside mids the same age due to missing a decent chunk of footy over the years. Dees messing with his role throughout the year didn’t help his form and his 2025 stats would still make him our second best midfielder as mentioned already in here.

Either way Steele will be at another club next year. Saints want his money outgoing along with Marshall.

Doubt we go after him if we get Oliver. But would love him as a defensive player in our midfield that can also educate our younger guys.

Did DiDi only have enough of a marketing budget for one week of ads? I swear I didn’t hear them anywhere near as much yesterday.
That ad is doing my head in...🤯
It's good to work from home and be able to listen to trade radio, but that ad....

You had me until the bolded. He’s been ultra durable and aside from some “hamstring” issues in 23 has played 21 matches in every non Covid season since he established himself.
