Whilst not the flashy player some would like in an off-season recruit, he's a solid, blue-collar player that plays his guts out and like Baker will set a tone and standard for our team on the track and on game-day.

Confirmation that it’s a 4 year deal albeit there’s no mention of any extension triggers that may or may not be part of the deal

And being a four year deal may just calm some people down

Great pick up for a 2nd round pick down grade.

Pick 23 for Starc PLUS pick 33 and 52.

Dropped 10 places in the 2nd round and got a 3rd as well. Good trade.

Just thought I'd note what it actually cost before the bed weters do what they do........

I am very happy with this trade. Have developed a soft spot for Brisbane and watched him chop it up in two grand finals. He is a big game player with nerves of steel, perfect to lead our defence now Gov has retired.

The club is being very smart with its mature age trade targets. Baker and Starc are good players and strong leaders who will drive training standards. They've also brought in supporting players in Graham and hopefully Dev. This should help player development, with plenty of people in the club from three successful premiership teams (Richmond 17-20, west coast 18 and Brisbane 24/25).

Drive the standards off field, start getting more wins and watch the young guns flourish. Next thing you know, we'll be back in finals and trading in the missing pieces for a premiership push.

100%. You trade in the standard setters, who (hopefully) pass that on to the drafted talent.

Hopefully he's told he needs to wear one of those padded helmets onfield.

Other than that - good get. Almost certainly a better player than anyone we would have drafted at 19.

At least to stop his noggin getting burnt in the dry heat of the Perth sun.
