The fact we went after Oliver then Simpkin, says to me that the coaching group think we try and go again next year. If we are going Down that road then we need atleast 1 decent inside mid.

I don’t think we’ll die wondering. Clearly looking for some kind of player who can step in to our midfield immediately, whether that’s Simpkin or Rowbottom (or both!) after missing out on Oliver.

Butters is no hope with our paltry first round pick next year. My question still remains, how do we get more first round picks for next year to get the likes of Butters. I doubt we're wanting to hold on to future first round picks, especially with tassie coming in.

I don't think the new trade market is good for the AFL. With guys like Butters and Merret likely to walk from their clubs, you're going to get some fans losing interest too.

While I'm not stoked about our interest in Simpkin given what North want, if we managed to pull off trading in Buller, Simpkin and Rowbottom without sacrificing McCarthy, I Would be pretty happy with that

I don't get the assumption that Peter is an ugly controlling patriarch. We're not talking about teenagers, they're in their mid twenties.

He’s absolutely not that. He encourages the boys and tries to nudge them in the right direction, and they in turn make their own decisions, but give a lot of weight to their dads advice.

I think we'll be adding a mid and Simpkin is our fall back if we can't get someone more suitable - Rowbottom is more suitable.

We’d stay competitive, fill some holes on our list and then go hard next trade period.

Me too. I think Rowbottom will be the preference. And if we can't get him, it'll be Simpkin. Either way I think we're spending a future first, unless we have a surprise departure to make it happen.

Can’t agre.

Assuming Port match, which is not guaranteed as they are a real risk of being bottom 6 next year, we would have 3 first rounders to offer.
