The problem when you consistently get given everything you ask for on a silver platter including two of the best mids in the draft in recent years despite your true draft position and winning a premiership is you become greedy. Now they are going to go running back to Ah Chee and beg him to stay, they have to or they look like idiots.

I would be absolutely filthy at that press conference if I was Ah Chee and his manager. There was no carefactor, no discussion of his true market value, it was just 'we want, we demand, we wont budge'. There was no talk of him even being a required player. See this is the very attitude that ****s off other AFL clubs, the fans and I dont even think the AFL will be happy with how Brisbane handled that.

The AFL allow clubs to run their own race but Brisbane really did not paint a pretty picture. I dont think even Brisbane will sit there happy with that interview and if he had his time again, he would have sure as shit discussed things with the player concerned.

Sorry to see things go this way, Cal is an awesome human being, so I hope he gets to where he wants to be.

But this was never about what was reasonable, it's about sending a message for the years to come, as many of our squad will be approached.

It's saying to the other clubs 'If you don't play our game, we will call your bluff', we're just sending a warning, as an example, as against gaining a few picks that really aren't worth a lot.

It's not a hill we are dying on; it's business not personal. Handed everything in a non-AFL state lol, there are more father sons in our best 22 than academy picks, you got Ben Keys right. Our recruitment team have done exceptionally well. And not so long ago we were perpetual whipping boys, we never want to go back there again.

For starters, 13 clubs arent going to be in the pre season draft.

He's uncontracted and they can't afford him with Draper and Allen coming in. We threw away a 3rd for no reason.

If throwing away a 3rd rounder is caving then you have a weird sense of value. The club threw in a 3rd rounder as a sign of good faith. For me the club has demonstrated they will stand by their decisions and not be forced into submission. Pointing the finger will be towards Brisbane. They will get a bad wrap for what they have done. Most VIC commentators agree that Brisbane were too stubborn. Adelaide did try to adjust their offer.

Like most on here I do hope that we can still savage Ah Chee and I am sure the club knows what it has to do to give them every chance of getting him in the PSD.

The northern clubs get such a leg up that they don't value draft picks. Brisbane decline the trade to make a stand. They have plenty of top picks, they can afford to.

Well, whatever, we end up benefiting in a Geelong/Bowes trade kinda way, which I'm fine with.

And remember that they benefitted with getting a pick 2 player and a pick 19 player for nothing.

We won this, we paid nothing and will get a dual premiership player in the pre season draft and you guys have lost respect league wide because you overvalued a player and refused to compromise. He's not guaranteed to get to crows. That's not how the psd works. You can't demand where you go. Neither can his manager.

And i don't know about powers cap or list space, but they have a pick before crows.

You'll probably get him - but in no way is it a certainty when you finish 5th.

The message - offer less than what Brisbane want and get the player for free in the PSD without losing picks

If we miss out on him in the PreSeason draft, so be it, or we get him for free. Brisbane lose a player and get a poor rep from players and other clubs.
