I'm interested in the shape and size of the ground up there and whether that is going to take away (or reduce) his weapons.

Also, team dynamics. This is Joel Amartey on 1st day of pre-season.

Homer meets Darryl Strawberry..... ⚾🧢😖🍓

Don't think it's about Charlie's level... more so about the potential disruption to the playing group this trade has caused.

Remember, Hayward and Florent were both well respected, quality players for that club for a number of years now. They committed to the club long term and both were still contracted for many more years.

Offering them up could cause a stir. Let's also remember there were other names bandied about too, Rowbottom's manager had to come out and deny he'll be moving.

If Charlie rocks up and doesn't adhere to their culture (chasing, 2nd efforts non-negotiable) there's potential disruption.

Also, Cox is not a proven coach. He is not measured like horse was, he wears his heart on his sleeve more and that may eventually rub some of them the wrong way.

But I'm not gonna sit back and hope for their best players to cop injuries.
Totally with you there. It's considered very bad form to wish other teams players to suffer injuries. Even though other teams supporters wish our players injuries and other issues.

Wish for them to struggle to find form on their new home ground. Wish them bad games against us. But injuries... no.

And if you want to wish injuries on players... **** off out of here!

He's played there 6 times for 11 goals. Might be a bit about our team but he's well under career average there.

Hey all, was wondering what the thoughts are around 2027 draft and essentially Sydney's and our own 1st round picks. And if the below is the case ...

So with Tasmania coming in that is an extra 7 picks coming into the top 13, so pushes out the first round to pick 25.

However, sounds like there is some big changes coming to f/s and NGA, and I may be wrong, but is it right that a first round bid has to be matched with another first round pick (i know nothing confirmed yet, rumours only).

Is free agency compo still going to be a thing? So Band 1 compo may push it out one or two spots (like always i guess).

Trying to think about where the Sydney pick may land. Most likely somewhere in the top 21 - 25 picks if they finish top 4 with the above rule changes etc.

A fit and firing Charlie 100% improves Sydney's major deficiency but even still, they're coming from a long way back if they want to hit top 4 next year.

I can only really see Collingwood and maaaybe Freo dropping out of the 8, and the Dogs and Saints alongside ourselves are probably going to be better than our 2025 form based on trade-ins and injury-returnees. Sydney at their best is a top 4 lock on paper when Gulden is actually playing, but can Cox get them up and going? Struggled big time at stages this year and their depth suddenly looks pretty vulnerable

what if syd have to F1s? I guess we get the cheaper one

We get whatever picks are tied to their ladder position. Similar to Hawthorn getting pick 9 (which was tied to our ladder position this year) while we got 10 (from the TDK compensation). If Sydney get another pick from FA compensation it wont affect us. Sydney trading in any other R1 picks doesn't affect us either.

but is it lace out to a moving curnow, or lace out to a stationary and wrestling curnow?
I don't think Curnow has been right since his ankle re-co.

His effort was poor this year, but I think his capacity to run and jump has been damaged too...

We'll find out next season.
