I'd also say it's one thing for Sydney and Gold Coast with their academies to burn 1st round picks when they know 2nd round picks can do the job for them (particularly for this season), it's another thing for Hawthorn (or Essendon or any Vic club for that matter) to burn all their draft capital for the immediate future.

now that just arguably heightens the need for the Hawks to have added a player, but still, I think when comparing the Curnow and Petrracca trades, we have to acknowledge that the GC/Swans have a slightly different currency which is advantageous to clubs trading a player to them

I don't really get this, if we really wanted McKenzie or something, then why weren't we talking to them? It's **** Hawthorn on one hand and on the other hand, we're being respectful gentlemen and not trying to poach a player we like from them unless they grant us permission?

We really wanted to keep Zac. That was our starting point and hawthorn had to budge us from that.

They could do it by offering us an undeniably good package. They offered us a mid teens pick in a weak draft, a VFl player and two picks projected to be in the 20s

Robert Downey jr built his iron man suit in that cave with more than what the hawks were offering.

The comparison to the Trac/curnow trades isn’t the draft capital. Hawks amount of draft capital was fine even in excess if we’d got 1 good useful blue chip asset.

Suns gave up Flanders to make that happen. Swans two players in seperate deals. Hawks had no interest in doing so. Dumped worpell for compo and were hoping to get Zac from the bargain bin as a replacement.

Does he get to keep the lambo or does he get swapped into Andy’s Prius?
Now that is where he went wrong. Lambo. What a w***er :p

Good article of the slops Hawthorne was offering

This feels like a much better laid out version of what my thoughts were on trade deadline night (as in actual deadline night, not fake deadline night)

im firm in the camp his manager led him down the wrong path.

i doubt zach is a campaigner

his manager just said he should be to get out

thats my take at least, will know soon enough
What percentage do agents get?

With Zach set to get an extra $400k x 5 years from the Hawks Petroro had a vested interest in advising his client to leave
