Two concerning things

Mead on the wing?
Moraes at HF?

I'd have Moraes on the wing
I don't mind Mead listed on the wing. To me it shows that he isn't in Josh's plans for the midfield, whoch is a positive.

Not sure he'd be first picked on the wing out of that group either. Might struggle to make the 23...

Jones and Lai having an 'I can jump higher than you' contest

Wow, wonder what theyre saying to McLennan thats kept him interested? Would've thought he'd have gone back to Centrals. Watkins and Rome would be ahead of him IMO. With 3 spots left Jayden and Watkins are looking likely, so there's not much more room there.

I think he confirmed at the BnF that he was staying. Can't be the history of the club, no young player is interested in that.

Even though Mead, Lord and Lorenz didn't impress me last year, I'll give them a bit of a break and see if the new coach can get something out of them. If not, then it's Bon Voyage.
We have no choice but to keep Mead and Lord this year as they’re under contract.
We can’t give em away, Lord maybe something can be done with him.
Mead no chance, never will be an AFL standard player.
His level is SANFL

Mead is the sort of player who could win 3 Magarey's on the trot, but whose skill set doesn't quite translate to AFL...

Mead's too slow for the wing and his kick has no penetration. He's an inside mid who gets in and under to farm the ball out or he has no role.

This simply isn’t true.

The strange thing about Mead is that he doesn’t even perform particularly well at SANFL level. He played three games back there this year, all losses, including against bottom-of-the-ladder South, and looked a level below players like Watkins, Liddy, Lorenz and Jackson.

He just doesn’t have an elite footballer’s skill set. He’s a small, in-and-under mid who loves to throw it on the boot, but even at SANFL level he doesn’t win enough possessions or clearances to make that style effective. In his 34 games at the level he’s only hit 30 disposals a single time.

Watkins plays a similar style, though he might be even smaller, but he racks up way more possessions and clearances. He’s also only around 6 months older. In his single SANFL season this year, Watkins almost doubled Mead’s career magarey votes.

Under the Hinkley regime Jackson was never going to flourish as he would have been coached to get rid of the ball at any cost if the ball came into his possession. He was never coached to survey his other options - perhaps an opening became available & he could have his pace & skills to move the ball forward setting up our forwards
Another past Power player was Marty Frederick who was coached the same way and Hinkley stuffed up his career as well.

How can a regular punter make this determination?

How can anyone tell how they were coached from such limited exposure?

I'm all for the Hinkley hate (and I get that it is the offseason) but surely the most likely explanation is that Jackson & Frederick just weren't good enough??

Players not being good enough is a hard pill to swallow for some posters on here.

Apparently the player who shows up to pre-season in the best shape is now given the [PLAYERCARD]Travis Boak[/PLAYERCARD] award.

I get the intention but did it really need to be the boak award. No one will give a shit about that guy in a few years. He achieved no greatness.
