How many keys do you keep on your ring? I've had to replace ignition switches after... relatives who shall not be named kept driving around with her their 5 pound keyring hanging while driving.

One unfortunatly. Probsbly should keep two at least to see if it is the key. It starts after I press the lock and unlock button a few times. I just had replaced the old key recently also

Not a Jeep is it? I hopped out to help some guy stuck at the lights (causing a monumental jam) who was doing the same thing. Offered to help push him off to the side but it was stuck in park without the engine running. Bloke was quite resigned to his fate "oh it happens, should be ok in a couple of minutes" click chunk click chunk click chunk...

You can get one of these from Kogan. An added benefit to being in/trendy is those obscenely fat tyres have such high rolling resistance your calves and quads would soon rival Tigerturbulance's.*

*if you actually pedal it anywhere rather than just recharge it and use it as a cheap and annoying motorbike

Not sure how the key computer can prevent the car from starting. It’s all ****ing sorcery horseshit to me

It certainly is these days. Remember yanking on the boot release and it pulled a cable and it opened?

Boot release sticky? Lube the latch and the cable. Won't open no more? Replace the cable or reterminate the cable if its just the end bit broken.

Nowadays you yank on the boot release or press the button and body control computer logic detects the release switch operated and the computer sends a command over the canbus to the boot latch controller module which energises the solenoid to open the latch.

There's so many points of failure and each one requires diagnostics and expensive part replacements.
