It's pathetic when someone says something like this. This is a worse version of "I'm not racist, but ..." then immediately says something racist.

As if prefacing their comments with this line makes their comment not what it is. The fact they need to preface their comment with a line like this just tells me that they are fully aware of what they are going to say is morally wrong, but just don't want to be judged for it being morally wrong.

She's planting the seeds to normalise it in the event more comes out about █████.

First it starts with "There's a difference between 15 and 8 but it's still gross" then it moves on to "it's inappropriate but that's how it was for centuries around the world" then it will be "we know █████ enjoys younger women and 15 is basically a young woman, no big deal it's just 'his type'... let's move on"
