With the rate the quality of the draft crop seems to be improving year on year, I’d be reluctant to hand over a R1 pick for anyone other than a genuine star

Draftees coming into the AFLW having been developed through juniors are often better than senior players already in the league that didn’t have the same development pathway

And the gap in physical strength between an 18 year old draftee and a 24/25 year old isn’t as significant as it is in the men’s comp

An aging list like Fremantle’s should be careful trading out a R1 picks, let alone two

Better to keep our powder dry so that we have plenty to offer to bring Zippy home next offseason 😈

In all seriousness, she had her dad living with her in Sydney all season, she left to come back to WA pretty much immediately after the season ended, and she’s spending the entire offseason in WA to attend uni and spend time with her family and boyfriend. Things can change but from the outside looking in, it definitely doesn’t feel like she’s buying in to Sydney long term.

I reckon all the Freo and Eagles girls will be trying to hang out with her. Who do you reckon she'd get on better with, and want to be in a team with? A fading team dominated by 26+ year olds? Or a bunch of dynamic girls of similar age who are zooming up the ladder?

I watched a bit of the W show, didn't really care about all the grand final analysis. Not much on the Eagles but Beveridge said that the Eagles will monitor Zanker trade discussions between Freo and Melbourne in case they break down. He did say that Melbourne could be in the box seat to get the #1 overall pick (which Gold Coast is auctioning to get points to match lots of bids on the talent that they're hoarding), and he speculated that Melbourne could potentially get 2 first round picks back from Freo (presumably this year and next).
If thats the asking price then I'm very glad we walked away.... The Purps will lament this trade in the future considering the quality coming in through the draft and given their list age profile.

Also if Antonio is keen to go again, I’d be bringing her in. The list spots that were tied up with Hosking, then the mid season disappearance of Drennan, plus the SMac preseason (perhaps we replaced her, I’m not sure?).

There should be empty list spots for a seriously experienced player who might only have one year left but can hopefully add some serious intelligence and coach up the young group. I think we’d be silly not to, in game impact a bonus.

I'm still amazed there's been no news on the list management front considering teams who finished AFTER us have started to make list changes. At least four spots need to be made for draftees if they wanna draft four again.

I've already long form a couple times said who the possible de-listings could be so I'll just short hand them now. Lindgren didn't do enough in the little time she had as a replacement so I assume she's gone. I'm always working under the assumption of whoever got traded here got two year deals which means Annabel Johnson and Drennan could be in the gun. Lakay signed for one year so she's currently uncontracted. Sophie Mac may pull the pin after having a concussion wrecking couple of years.

I'm looking for articles who've re-signed recently and last year it says Kavanagh and Cleaver re-signed until the end of 2025 even though I thought draftees naturally had two year deals as they were in the Rentsch draft, so that may be a stuff up on their part and should say '26 🤷‍♂️

Another who came in via trade two years ago is Roxie Roux...now THAT would take some balls de-listing her after how good she was for us this year. They never list length of deals in trade articles so she coulda signed a three year deal for all we know.

And it's gonna get even younger next year with Hooker retiring and questions over Drennan's future here. I assume she came over on a two year deal which has now expired.

If they de list Roxy Roux I'll be throwing bricks through windows at Lathlain.

I can’t see that happening. Roxy was tough as in defence this year and any desire for The Rentch to play has a mid needs The Roux down back. Clever needs some thumpers around her.

Extra lists spots given to GWS, Gold Coast & Collingwood.
GWS getting an [PLAYERCARD]Oscar Allen[/PLAYERCARD] sized extra first rounder.

We finished with a losing record but because of Gold Coast probably matching 6 bids and GWS getting a free extra pick (they didn't even have to lose a captain to get it!), our first pick will probably drop down to around 20. Cool beans.

Also love that Gold Coast got additional list spots. What, are the six players in the top 20 (including the top player overall and a few others in the top 10) not enough of a gift?

Not sure if Lakfer hurt her arm against Carlton or if it’s just something she was carrying for a while.

Knowing West Coast's track record of being forthcoming and transparent with injuries....who knows. Hopefully just an end of season cleanout but expect to eventually have a passing comment in a preseason training dialogue like 6 months from now....

Our first pick may end up being in the very late teens when it's all said and done. Might as well take a throw at the stumps for Zanker with it if that's the case, like God damn. The draft's officially a dogs breakfast.

Can't wait to tune into the annual Ella Roberts Club Champion awards night

She could end up with 10 club champion awards..
Ella, Ella, Ella.
We are lucky to have her..

Oh, guess who's representing us in the grand final sprint?

I didn't realise she was that swift!
I think we have better options but the sprint is never taken seriously. Zipporah will take it seriously though.
Single would win if over 2km.
Don't know about any of the others sprint times.

I'd be weary of having Ella run due to the late season hamstring scare.

What's with the embarrassing venue choice for the AFLW GF? Feels incredibly amateur to see the ****ing Carlton logo in the background of a North v Lions GF.
They refused to move it to marvel and something like "a packed 12,500 at Ikon looks better than twice that at marvel" was said.
Not a direct quote but that and "why not have it be a sellout" was said.
Pretty silly.

Oh yeah, like there's some magical venue that can host footy in Melbourne and could hold 50k ish and that the AFL could somehow get the owners to make it available for them.
