You can't have only three key defenders (Thredgold, Dawson, Pink) on the list and no depth to cover injuries.
That's some Rawling level of cutting deep in regards to key back spots.
They are not going to cut Matt Whitlock after his 2nd year or Will Dawson after his 3rd year.
They'd have those players on a much longer term development plan when they draft them.
Corr gone is the most likely change to the key backs end of 2026 and Blake effectively replaces him.
You could make a case for Logue if he doesn't perform, but I'd say worst case he's contracted VFL depth to end of 27'.

Comben is a good interceptor who is rated by other coaches highly like Kingsgley and it's very unlikely we get someone in who is better via trade/FA and any draftees will take time.
If he gets injured (knock on wood he stays healthy) again then maybe it's question as to whether you move on.
I would agree he's not the best 1v1 defender and his kicking needs work though.

I think we'd have other draft priorities like a key forward, rebounding half back and running power through middle.
But can't completely rule out drafting a medium or key defender with a late pick given a good one might be available, but I think it might be more a medium defender who can intercept and rebound if anything.
Personally I think we need to focus on running power in the midfield and all across the ground. Speed and stamina, creates whole field defence across the ground. I think our back line deficiencies are blown way out of proportion. If the ball is coming in quick it's impossible to defend. 2 games that really stick in my mind (because I was at both of them), 2014 Prelim final vs the Swans where we got absolutely flogged. The way the swans moved it inside their forward 50 was impossible to defend. Rohan in particular just put the after burners on time and again. Meanwhile we had Kayne Turner in one of his first handful of games scrapping with his future coach behind play. Any key forward would have had a day out. Fast forward 12 months, we turned the tables and beat them on the same ground in the semi final. The difference was all in our midfield getting on top. Our back line was no different. Go check out the stats. I don't think much has changed. Pressure the ball carrier, stop the silver service delivery inside 50. I think our key defenders are capable enough.

Personally I'd prefer #23 be kept for draftees who cover up their faces when we draft them, but I guess I could coming around to giving it to a player who actually wanted to join the club.

I thought "covering faces" was leading to exiting court after a hearing....

I would agree adding some speed and transition run across wing and half back to help defend across the ground is likely more important to our short term ability to win games of football.
Our interest in Lindsay, Barker, Phillipou and Allen shows we were keen to add some run through wing/hbf.
Our interest in Avery Thomas also shows we wanted a bit of speed and athleticism down back.
Our key backs have some versatility in different positions, be it forward or ruck in Dawson's case, so I think we've got enough down back for now. We'll still need to have an eye on the timeline of replacing a Pink or Logue soon.
But that could be pushed into 2027 or 2028, despite their being some medium defenders we could look in 2026.
We may also look at Archie Devine from our NGA as a 180cm defender/wing/hbf.

He sounds like a really nice kid. Hopefully he’s not too nice and gets a little white line fever
Apparently, whilst still in the air, he says ‘Sorry’ to the opposition every time he takes an intercept mark.

Also to take a Twinkletoes moment.

I didnt make the connection at first but - his mum is a pretty accomplished lady. Crossed paths with her in the past.

The kid wouldn't have wanted for much. Credit to his family that he comes so driven yet humble so far.
