I'm loving what Josh Fraser had to say.
He has a very workable group to play with. Scope for a variety of options. We were effective post Curnow last season and have added layers and considerable depth.

Harry McKay the big Kahuna, expect him to thrive.

Brodie Kemp will appreciate second banana role when he gets his season going. Damaging in the air and athletic enough to add to forward pressure.

Hudson O’Keeffe is an excellent mark and usually a very reliable shot on goal. Mobile big man offering a significant ruck chop out. (Liam Reidy seems to have excellent goal sense for a no. 1 ruck if he can take the gig from Pitto).

Young Ashton Moir has been a slowish burn, but is now ready to offer a more regular impact as well as pinch hitting in the middle. His tank and body have continued to improve.

Will Hayward has long been an integral part of the Swans forward line. Aerial presence as well as quality at ground level and maintaining pressure.
Ben Ainsworth is a quality small forward with aspirations to contribute in the middle. Expect a more expansive role. Less structured than recent seasons at the Suns where Touk was given the roaming licence.

Jesse Motlop is still enigmatic, offering glimpses of potential. Still questionable for mine, if he would be better served deep forward than in the more expansive pinch hitting mid role. Needs to work harder more consistently.

Can we please have the late season version of Frankie Evans. His final few weeks were superb. Coinciding with some counselling from a couple of premiership Blues, he elevated from journeyman to genuine front liner. Long may it continue.

Loved the profile of little man Talor Byrne, solidly build kid who offers pressure, “hops”, and genuine scoring power. May be set for an early impact.
Fellow draftee Jack Ison suggested in a recent interview the plan was to start him as a forward. Already standing 192cm with impressive foot skills and an excellent step. Has had comparisons to Pendlebury and The Bont, which may be a little over the top, but it will be interesting to watch him progress.

Mitch McGovern potentially plays more forward as our younger defenders develop beside Haynes and Newman. He offers a decent degree of creativity and game sense which could be enhanced in a more flexible structure.

Lachie Fogarty has been a staple in recent years. The group think seems to be that he makes way for more offensive players, but it is yet to be seen how Voss and co. view this.

Matthew Cottrell has had plenty of injury down time in the past two seasons, but was a staple when fit. High half forward who can contribute further up the ground and remains to be seen where he fits if/when fit.

Flynn Young played plenty of footy after being added in the MSD. We saw glimpses of his superior disposal, but largely struggled to impact at the next level. Can play higher as a connector as well as having good goal sense, can he elevate with a full AFL pre season behind him?

The likes of Cooper Lord had impact forward of centre and expectation of Jagga Smith and others playing forward minutes, Adams mention Chesser as a HHF option.

The last forward consideration is the (current) skipper. How much forward time to we see for Crippa as he ages, and we need to give our youngsters midfield time?

We have plenty of options capable of changing up the mix for Fraser’s forward structure.

(I am well aware this is more List Management mods, but is responding to a post in this thread)

On Carlton’s new forward dynamic:

"Having been at the Pies, that was one of the great strengths: not being solely reliant on one or two players, but having such an even contribution in the front half and becoming quite dynamic in the way we played and moved in the forward 50.

Some of it is reliant on how we move the ball inside 50, but having different avenues to goal is also important…

Having players who can kick like Nick Daicos could help.

I remember way back in the 90's when Peter Daicos invented that football designed to help kids learn how to kick properly (the goalmaster I think), I thought then 'if he has kids, I'm pretty sure they're going to learn how to kick properly'. And here we are.

What a relief to hear

Huge relief for mine.
Just to hear the coaches finally talk about implementing/improving the traits that are required to suit the modern game.

100%. We can talk about players and best 23 all we like BUT this is the biggest issue for me. If we don't address this and culture nothing else matters

If Fraser can make the Pies forward set-up work, I’m sure he’ll have no issues turning our lot into something competitive.

Really excited for a Moir/Hayward/Kemp combination; all 3 are awkward matchups who can play tall, small and push up into the midfield/swap forward to exploit any mismatches.

Reckon Moir will benefit enormously from the experience and leadership Hayward brings.

Yep. Kemp is a watch as his rehab is slow but the options of Moir Hayward Williams Evans and even Cripps going forward should be exciting and dangerous. Even better if Motlop and/or Byrne step up

McGovern may also be an option and I know Jagga has been working on his forward craft as well

No doubt hitting targets is essential, but functionality is equally important both entry and organization within the F50 arc…
Our overall forward strategy & system were as bad as our choices & delivery… Accuracy as well…

I wish Campo taught his boys to kick like him 😂. Its funny how one our best kicks this century and an AFL coach, ended up with 2 boys who struggle with kicking.

He was head of their development, not a forwards coach. He would have made some contribution to the implementation, but it was not his structure.

I wouldn't have called Campo an elite kick, more a consistent and efficient one. He was clean enough with it, and kept it low with an idea of the right areas to send it. Houla was the one in that era* who hit lasers.

Lucas actually resembles him a lot as a player, but he needs to start refining his training to get that extra out of himself to push his acceleration and kicking like his dad did.

Some guys can't explain why they can do something, they just can.

Worse, once you start trying to break it down you can mess up your own action
