$1.13b for a stadium of only 23,000 capacity seems a bit expensive .
If there's anything that's more certain than death and taxes, it's a blowout on a stadium price tag. That price has already blown out from ~$750M when it was first floated.

It will be at least $1.5B by the time it's built. Probably $2B.

Get rid of 3 and go back to 16 imo

Hypothetical question for the board

Norf, Saints and Bulldogs are the teams to be axed, their players go into a draft for the rest of the comp to pick

Who goes number 1?

Nas, Bont, Darcy, Sheezel or other?

Darcy but Nas wouldn’t be a bad pick either. Bont too old and Sheezel will be a gun but won’t be a generational star like the other two

16 would work well. 2 divisions of 8 would give 14 games plus play the teams in the other division once gives 22 games.
Top 4 teams in each division play off in a final series. Collingwood should have 5 interstate teams in their division plus play 3 away games with the other interstate teams in the other division. Wouldn't that make the Pies really squawk.
The AFL is supposed to be hell bent on equalization. Perfect opportunity to show that they mean it.

As I understand it the stadium is likely to plunge Tasmania into a great depression level recession and people will be forced to line up for soup to be poured into their hats for sustenance.
When I did the Cascade brewery tour they told us they gave out 1 bean can full of beer to the locals during the great depression. I hope they have the foresight and fire up the back up fermenters.

We can dream about killing off pleb Victorian clubs as much as we like, but if push comes to shove, the (v)AFL would sooner wipe us off the face of the competition than sacrificing a Victorian team.
Maybe they'd sooner do it but couldn't, it'd cripple them.
