Carey is great to watch.
He and Campbell Kellaway could be our openers for a very long time if they come on right.Nice to see Konstas back in the runs today. Hopefully it's the start of some good form for him.
He deserves criticism for it, it was a ridiculous thing to do and put unnecessary pressure on the incoming bats.Bit weird to see Green getting slammed after making 45 (yeah it was a bad dismissal but he looked solid up to then) whereas Carey is being praised after he should’ve been out for a golden duck.
I think people are often too results oriented when they praise or criticise batsmen. Like Head, he’s an aggressive player. The over before the one he got out he went after a very similar delivery and hit it for a boundary. If he gets very similar deliveries and tries to do similar things with them, then surely they are either both good shots or both brain fades? He deserves criticism for it, it was a ridiculous thing to do and put unnecessary pressure on the incoming bats.
People have gone over the top with it though. As you said against a competent side Carey would've got a golden duck, and Head, Marnus, and Smith all threw it away as well.
Presumably it's because people are obsessed with Webster even though he's been in even worse form with the bat.

The one that got Inglis did deck in a bit. Not as much as the one Boland bowled last night but I wouldn't call it a straight one.I think people are often too results oriented when they praise or criticise batsmen. Inglis on the other hand, people say it was a peach but it looked to my eye like he got a pretty straight delivery on the stumps with normal pace (131 km/h) and normal bounce, and he left too much of a gap and got bowled. Looks great when the zing nails go flying, but to me that was mostly just poor defence on a stock standard straight one at the stumps.
You'd think they'd have learnt by now that one of the keys to winning Tests in Australia is keeping the other team out in the field as long as possible.Poms looked exhausted at the end of the day.
Bat as long as we can tomorrow and grind them into the dust.
I cannot believe how knackered they looked. A 3 day test followed by some golf time followed by 2 days play and they looked cooked. And that was after a just 1 warm up game.Poms looked exhausted at the end of the day.

There’s is no excuse for teams not bowling 90 in a day… the penalties need to be tougher and so do the umpires… they need to to say no to blokes getting gloves , drinks and towels every two overs and tell the 12 th man to get off the ground as is their role to.I cannot believe how knackered they looked. And the commentators pandering to the horrendous workload they have done. Say what? Captain? Say what? None of them cracked 20 overs in the day and if I was a selector every one of them would be in doubt for test 3. Stokes was Mr Crampon, Carse was Mr Cooked and Joffra was Mr DoneByTea. Did any one of them get over 140kph after tea?
I just cannot work it out.
And they went with 5 quicks in Perth and 4 + spin in Brissie.
At the peak Windies went with 4 quicks and Oz went with McGrath, Lee, Kaspo and Warne. And they were doing 90 overs in a day.
And they are meant to have dietitians and mental health trainers and everything else that should have them at 100% for each match.
Are they snowflakes? Were they selected when they should have been left at home? Did they start injured? and so on.
9 FC 50s now?Cooper Connolly just out for 88 off 92.
