Since 2023 the government has appointed a special envoy against antisemitism, a special task force of the AFP solely dedicated to combating antisemitism, $60 million for synagogue and other Jewish site protection, a ban on N*zi symbols and strengthening hate crimes legislation, declared the IRGC a terrorist group, expelled Iranian diplomats and neo Nazis directing hate against the Jewish community, and (quite controversially) adopted the IHRA definition of antisemitism.
If you question the PM. Which part of the anti-semitism envoy's report would have prevented this tragedy?

He appointed somebody to tell him what to do, what did they deliver?

If the father of a guy who they know has pledged allegiance to IS (and had links to people in jail that had planned an attack) can have a firearms licence and six firearms then that is a major, major **** up on a really unfathomable scale.
Was just coming here to post the same thing.

This is an unforgivable failure - ****ing outrageous the son has IS links and the father has six legal weapons.

Nah, I like him and basically everyone I know voted for him. It’s just that this issue seems to be one that every PM would just prefer to ignore. Libs would be no different.
Labor have a large Muslim voting cohort to cater to. They are caught between the general Australian public who are sympathetic to Jewish people, and the left-leaning western Sydney electorates. They are hell-bent on staying in office, first and foremost.

There's no electoral value in the Jewish sector, there are too few of them.

On the ASIO watch list since 2019 and granted a firearms licence at the time. Who was in government in 2019?

This is why it's so hard to fight insurgency in places like Afghanistan and Iraq etc. These kids are indoctrinated from the start.
You kill a terrorist and you make future terrorists of their kids.
You can be sure the issues in Gaza will continue because of this...

I'll be honest, that was my first thought, but then I come back to reality and remember how hard I found it euthanising my terminally ill chicken a couple of months ago, and realise that despite any thoughts of bravado, I'm actually an absolute pussy like 99% of us posting here.
Agree, unfortunately the Israel/Jewish and Palestinian/Muslim hatred of each other will not end. Kids on both sides are brought up to hate each other.
They'll be having the same discussions in 50 years time.

This is just an obvious fact. Our pathetic excuse for a foreign Minister had to get dragged kicking and screaming to even go to Israel then refused to go to the massacre sites. Says it all.

Its been said but....
.if a gunmen kills some people and it causes a change of government.....
Do you not think more people would want to cause a change of government by this means. ?

I'd suggest that your pathetic excuse for a post is wrong.

Does it matter? It's just an enormous failure of the system and will have to lead to a massive shake up in how we look at gun ownership.

People blaming protests for this are fools in my opinion, but how anyone can own 6 guns let alone someone with IS links is just bonkers. Thankfully we don't experience many of these horrible events so hopefully this one is a massive wake-up call, just like Port Arthur was.
