I'm grateful that we have cured this poor family of being Carlton fans

etcMia could end up better than Zanker. Hard to compare mids and forwards, but still true. And we couldn't have afforded the other four players we got, if we'd taken Zanker. I'd much rather have our draft than Freo's.I'm immensely happy we didn't give up any future picks in our chase for #1 or for Zanker. Keep that powder dry, stockpile the baitetc
100% pretty much my assertion before trade week was that we should buck the trend and keep getting bargain price youngens with upside into the team as opposed for blowing our load (draft capital) on 1 big fish. As much as Zanker would have benefitted our forward line immediately, handicapping our future definitely isn't worth.I'm immensely happy we didn't give up any future picks in our chase for #1 or for Zanker. Keep that powder dry, stockpile the baitetc

Kinda funny that they had Rentsch welcoming Russo and Lewis over in western Vic welcoming a new draftee from Rentsch’s old club.
Their tiktoks are bananas with just jess and lu, god help us if theres a 3rdShoulda told Jovie to wait a week so Lu and Jess could stop by on their cross country trip home for the Christmas break with their three dogs in tow, that've been a sightSeen a couple Rebels people say in her comments section 'She's all yours, Jess!'...there could be a three headed monster of hype girls on our hands.

I think she's played 1 game of footy since round 12 of the WAFLW season 2023.What blows me away is..and it just dawned on me...that North Melbourne must have the greatest medical group and physios known to mankind because how the hell did Ella Slocombe only manage ONE game in two years?! With list sizes being what they are you'd think by just war of attrition she'd have at least a handful of games. No wonder she wanted to come home.
Was she injured at any point?
They announced Lindgren wouldn't be getting a new contract recently. I assume all list spots are full unless they want to move say a Western to the LTI and take someone in the pre-season draft.Did a breakdown of our age profile - I think I have the overall playing list correct, although I’ve included both Drennan and Lindgren on the list given there’s some uncertainty around the status of both. Means a total of 31, rather than 30

It’s a very young list with half being 21 or under to start 2026 and another 8 being no older than 23
Think it’s also worth pointing out that the older players aren’t vital to our set up
Glad we haven’t been sucked in to the trap of chasing short term success by trading in established players at the expense of investing in the draft.
In another 2-3 years this age profile will be quite something

They announced Lindgren wouldn't be getting a new contract recently.
Clubs will be able to protect a standard number of six contracted players, a maximum of 12 players and a minimum of three players from being classified as 'expansion free agents' if they are contracted at the time of Tasmania's arrival.
The total number of players each club will be able to protect will depend on previous ladder positions at the time of the Devils' entry, with teams at the bottom of the ladder able to block more players from leaving than teams at the top.

This is what's quite interesting about the new recruits. Typically you know what you are going to get, with players like Zanker or Prowse, etc. But of the three we traded in, one has played one match in two years and just turned 20, one played a few matches but has only been on an AFLW list for one season, and even the most "known" commodity (Skepper) saw her stats well down last season as she became more of a fringe player at Carlton. We didn't pay much to acquire these three but there's a lot of unknown as far as what they can bring to the club and whether they are capable AFLW players.I think she's played 1 game of footy since round 12 of the WAFLW season 2023.
Missed the rest with an avulsion fracture in her knee.
There had to have been an ongoing injury of some sort.
Try finding game stats for VFLW. It seems she didn't play there either.
I don't really understand what this means:
The connection with Tas maybe works against NM here. They will only be able to protect 3 you think, and the best team in the comp would be the priority target for the new club.I think the wooden spooner will be able to protect 12, the premier will only be able to protect 3, and there’ll be a bit of a sliding scale.
Maybe the majority of teams can protect six but it’s less for the top four, more for the bottom four, something along those lines.
We finish mid table, there is a good chance its only going to be 6. So, which 2 of that list are you not protecting?![]()
Draft bonanza, free agency power: Devils' AFLW list build rules revealed
Tasmania's inaugural AFLW side has been handed a powerful expansion package to build its listwww.afl.com.au
Riley Beveridge dropped the Tassie AFLW list build article. They can sign up to 18 players from other clubs but clubs can name 12 untouchables.
Ella, Bella, Chuck, Rentsch, Lu, Riggsy, L Wakfer and Cleaver would be some of mine just off the top of my head.
The Demons are the benchmark. No big player ever left Melbourne, through all the expansions. And that's where Daisy's from, no doubt she's trying to build the same strong culture here.We finish mid table, there is a good chance its only going to be 6. So, which 2 of that list are you not protecting?
Its tempting to say, we will rely on our culture to protect our players who will not want to leave, but I recall other clubs saying that in the lead up to other expansions, and then promptly losing major players.
Agree, but the player has to want to join Tassie as a Expansion FA's.The Demons are the benchmark. No big player ever left Melbourne, through all the expansions. And that's where Daisy's from, no doubt she's trying to build the same strong culture here.
Yep, they're going to have to sell Hobart/Tassie as an exciting seachange as well...... It doesn't have the same appeal as the major cities on the Eastern seaboard now does it? I suspect the only factor they have going for them is novelty and $$$Agree, but the player has to want to join Tassie as a Expansion FA's.
Wouldn't expect the better players from the club would be a worry, just fringe players?
