Two of the best contested midfielders in the competition. There is zero reason why they can't play for another 3 to 4 years.

I don't get this narrative about it's time to siphon these guys out of the midfield to make room for the younger brigade. Crippa & George are at the top of their game and it's up to the like of Lord, Ben Campo etc to prove themselves worthy.
Crippa is one of the best (& arguably the best) inside mid - George tries hard.

George is slow and moves the ball backward more often than not, no one will ever question his effort but he is the weakest link in what makes our midfield slow & inefficient on a number of levels.
Teams don’t care if he gets a heap of the ball.

George Hewett is meat and potatoes.

Basic but foundational.

He makes other players better

I'm told Kemp, Jagga & Newman will be ready to play in the community series game on Feb 25.

Cottrell is the only player that's behind schedule.
Do you know what Cottrell has done? Had a leg come off or something? Feels like he hasnt fired a shot for best part of two seasons now.

That’s because he hasn’t fired a shot. Barely been on the ground for 3 years. We’ve gone past him. He will be delisted or retire early. Get another mid season pick.

Totally agree and most good teams have a few George Hewett like players. Ultra reliable, hard at it, who release players like Walsh to do the silky things.

If Hewett plays as well as last year and others step up, Walsh might end up on a wing feeding the forward line.

OK, so this is what I didn't see when I didn't go down to training on the weekend. I paid particular non-attention to the new recruits.

Florent - Spent the whole session at HBF. The coaches told him to line up on the wing, but he refused. Hayward was playing HFF on the other team and Florent won't go anywhere without him. As they say, where there's a Will.... there's a Florent!

W (H)ayward - Coaches were getting him mixed up with an SSP train on. Apparently something about already having a recruit from a northern club who was a Wayward medium forward.

Ison - Waite presented him his #30 jumper and was trying to instill his wisdom of not playing at your best all the time. Play like a superstar, then get injured. Play immaculate footy in a contract year, then zone out for a while and throw in some suspensions. And never, ever, play a full quarter! Waite thought Jack was the perfect recruit to continue his legacy and was seen walking away circulating his arms, repeating "Ison, Isoff. Ison, Isoff..."

Reidy - Perfect cultural fit since moving from Fremantle. Says he feels right at home in a team that has done nothing since 1995.

Byrne - Security stopped him entering the field, patted him on the head and told him that unfortunately we couldn't do Charlie's Crew anymore. He wasn't allowed to join training til Austin vouched for him; "Security... this is Taylor Byrne, #39, small forward, he's on the list". Security replied "Sorry Curly Jr, I got you now... this is Taylor Byrne, he's the 39th small forward on our list".

Evans - Did not compete in training. Was outside the front of PP, posing for sculptors for the impending GOAT Small Forward statue.

Acres - Spent the whole session asking to change the session from PP to Marvel. No one understood why, but I overheard Blake muttering how hard it is spending all day trying to kick the ball into an imaginary roof.

Fogarty - No one could really tell which drills he was actually impacting, but somehow we have won 10 training sessions in a row that he has been part of.

Weitering - Joined the session late as he needed sign-off from the insurers. Apparently the premium we pay for his quads are double the cost Kim Kardashian pays to insure her derriere.

Kade Simpson - Still coaching at Hawthorn, but the club brought him in for some off-season continuity. With no Silvagnis left at the club, we needed someone sitting around with resting-miserable sod-face.

Forward entries: The coaches were adamant that given the personnel changes up forward, our entries need to change drastically. We can no longer just blindly kick it on top of Charlie's head, while he wrestles three defenders. Now the new directive is to blindly kick it on top of Harry's head, while he wrestles three defenders. Genius!

Voss - I had a chat to him after the session and asked him if we had developed any new plans for outside midfielders. He said he had never heard of these so-called 'outside' midfielders before, but assumed I meant midfielders from outside the club and suggested that I talk to Austin, Davies and Wright.

Ferris, did you happen to not see Elijah when you didn’t go to training last week end. Anything you didn’t see that’s worth reporting, like photos opportunities of Elijah and Ollie with golf clubs and smiling?

I got a cracking photo of Elijah and Ollie not on the golf course just last week!!!

Actually Stamos was wrong once…

A while ago he wasn’t sure if the statements he was quoting were accurate..…it turned out he was wrong, his statements were 100% correct…😀
Yep.
Only one person was brave enough to argue with Stamos...now he's mysteriously vanished.

This is where the confusion is coming from. What can be seen on the track at training vs what people who have experienced the injury have posted. So I know that if Kemp plays this season I would rather he come back via the VFL and with managed time. Only because I don't what to see a recurrance.

Williams did that injury and he really did not play well until his second season back. Different people I know but same injury.

What a load of ....

Williams did his Achilles and came back the same year. Did his ACL the next year.

So we're now through the period where any time someone says something about Kemp we have an immediate response saying he won't play?

Radio silence on that.

It's great that people have some contacts at the club - I just wish they'd take what is said with a grain of salt and this does apply to the EH situation where the narrative some are pushing makes little to no sense and they're just relentless with it.

I like cots but if he can't get fit he's in trouble. Right now it's pretty hard to nominate 3 likely delistings at season's end. And the club have shown they'll pay out a contract.
Imagine a world where we don't have to pay out contracts because we've stopped giving 3 and 4 year contracts to fringe players.

You'd love Austin to pull your name from the hat for the office secret santa.
