Crawley on Brooks dismissal - “Personally I’d rather see someone get out like that rather than defending, on that pitch,”

I do t expect him to throw Harry under the bus, but c’mon, this makes you look like a campaigner
Well, he got his wish. Brooks did get out rather than defending.

Came out here with a reputation as the best young player of this generation and will be going home very much humbled
At least When KP came as a baby he took us on and fought hard.

Brook as been a non event so far in the series a few starts and many dumb shots

Need to make calls on Weatherald, Green and Inglis.
Personally I'd go Smith and Webster for Green and Inglis. Give Weatherald some more time.

Green is out of sorts and Inglis isn't up to it.

There was so much focus on Australia's top order weakness, but I guarantee the Aussie camp knew the Poms were no better off.
A bunch of batsmen with inflated records from playing on roads at home.
Particularly the openers....Duckett and Crawley have serious flaws....although the latter has done ok last two Tests.

Definitely early but KP had had enough by his last tour here. Team was done after about 5 minutes of the tour. Most players either went home early or wanted to.

Jason Gillespie said on radio yesterday that the Aussies gave Pietersen the nickname Harvey Norman that series (zero interest)

With his tendency to poke outside off, Duckett was always gonna find bouncier AUS pitches tricky.

He's received some good deliveries, but him struggling overall isn't surprising.

Never forget.

Im a mad Australian fan.

But we are cooked.

Outside of Starc, none of our bowling attacked looked threatening at all. I can't see how we take 20 wickets for a reasonable score to be honest - barring England throwing away their wickets.

If England had batted with a iota of common sense since the Ashes started, they would be short odds to be a few days from going 2-0 up. If Neser and Doggett are our next best bowlers then we are in for some hard times in the years ahead.

I have loaded up on England to win the Ashes @ $3.00 before the series; and again @ $6 after the first test.

I'm very confident on this bet, have pretty much decided what I will do with my winnings.

WeightOfTheWorld is suspended unfortunately.
I wonder what he's like at picking lotto numbers.

There are lots of England fans who go to watch them overseas who cannot stand the Barmy Army. In 1995, it was a different generation of fans. In fact, 1995 was when Bill Lawry first famously called them the Barmy Army and it stuck. Oh Bill, what have you done?! They were always Atherton's Barmy Army back in those days. A grassroots group of independent travellers, following their team in the most loyal fashion getting spanked around the globe. Then it became official and corporate, and lost its organic feel. They went from a couple of blokes selling shirts out of a holdall to a travel operator selling tour packages and official merchandise. They now even have TV broadcaster TNT sponsoring their shirts. It's lost its original purpose and spontaneous gallows humour/wit, and become tedious and annoying.

That's how most things like that in life end up, the start is always the best and the more people that join and know about it then it becomes something totally different of what it intended to be.

I was at Old Trafford in 2019 when we retained the urn. It was getting into fading light when Hazlewood trapped Overton LBW, so the relief and joy when that match was won was like nothing I've ever felt at a cricket match before.

It felt like winning the series at the time and sought of still does.

The home crowds can be insufferable when they're on top. Mainly the Western Terrace at Yorkshire, the temporary stand at Lancashire and the Hollies Stand at Edgbaston. They've become hives for dickheads. Other parts of the ground are generally ok, but as a UK-based fan, I'm done with the grounds outside London. Ashes matches attract non-cricket football knobs. They won't be the ones staying up in the middle of the night to watch the series in Australia.
No Headingly or Old Trafford on the 2027 roster which is interesting
Southhamptons Ageas Bowl makes its ashes debut

Don't run your club like it's sometime in the mid 60s is still the message for Yorkshire I see.

Full credit to Lyon. Was bowling pretty poorly but did exactly what was required later in the day. That fuller length did wonders. Excited to finish them off this morning and prepare for a big boxing day test.
