Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby spoke honestly about the player's perspective entering the showdown.
"Yeah, I don’t give a sh-- about the pick, to be honest," he said Tuesday. "I don't play for that. That's not my job. My job is to be the best defensive end in the world. That's what I focus on every day. Being a great leader, being an influence. Being that guy on a consistent basis for my team."
Hopefully he gets 4 sacks and we lose.

First 3 of those picks were major reaches with only McFadden being good and McClain just solid (whos career was short and had lots of legal and drugs problems ended it after 5 seasons) the rest were just plain bad picks.

Huff was a good prospect just at a position of free safety that should never be drafted in the top 10. Plus safety should never be the pick for a rebuilding team.

Russell was just horrible qb prospect but saying that the whole draft was bad for QBs that year. Brady Quinn was only other first round qb taken. Only 4 QBs taken in first 4 rounds this year.

Heyward-Bey will go down as an all-time Al Davis wtf moment. He was borderline 1st round pick and to get grab as first WR drafted over crabtree was just a wow moment at the time. I had him as 6th best reciever prospect in that class behind crabtree, maclin, Britt, Hicks, Harvin. He had blazing speed but never had the college production of a top wr with his best season having less than 800 receiving yards in college.

This is also a consequence of constantly changing coaches (and hence, schemes) whilst the head guy in charge was thinking short term given his age.

I'll say though that outside of DHB none of those players were over drafted. And even DHB had over 1,000 receiving yards in 2011 and had a career than spanned a decade.

Maxx can be pissed off as much as anyone, but this is the right move. There is literally zero benefit to him playing the final two games in the context of maximising preparation for next season.

Totally agree. Raiders need to do everything to get better for next year and that includes losing these last two games. It gets you the no 1 pick and no need to trade up for a qb plus gives you top pick at each round which is always nice.

Winning either of these games has the potential to set this rebuild back a further 12 months. Acquiring the #1 pick provides the opportunity for the potential of drafting their franchise QB for the next 15 years.

It's a no-brainer.
