Growing up around colourful characters, I thought everyone knew and was related to people who were stabbed or murdered etc... and the most important thing was that you didn't go to the cops. That was what I thought was normal... I suspect your grandfather may have visited our house at some stage, before we fled... er. moved interstate quickly.

Mofra, I remember this was a drain on you, and you didn't do it last year... take your time mate. If you need to stop, just do it. It's entertaining, but don't feel pressure. Think of yourself... I don't know your circumstances, but this time of the year is hard on a lot of us... so do what's best for you... and whether you finish or not, it's been a lot of lols for everyone anyway. Griffin 'Lounge' Logue is a former pick 8 with 10 years in the AFL system. He's played good footy in the past, he's played some middling footy, and he's played like he has only ever read about "running" but decided to wander onto a field and give it a go. 2025 represented the last solution of those 3.

This season Griffin was "rushed" back into the team apparently as North desperately tried to cling to 16th this season, their best result in years. This meant Griffin jogged out for 16 games of 'loose defence but not intercepting' which is a pretty unique position to play as a tallish almost KPDish defender. Short of raiding their AFLW program though, I'm not sure North had too many other options apart from 2 promising kids who trained harder.

Griffin just wasn't fit enough to run the game out this year. He wasn't the only one, but if you can't run a game out perhaps the best starting position on your opponent isn't "back-shoulder plus 7". He'd stick to an opposition forward about as well a damp 4 month old post-it note. His level of dedication to stopping his opponent has been described as "[PLAYERCARD]Lachie Neale[/PLAYERCARD]'s marriage".

The penny does seem to have dropped though, causing North's treasurer to pick it up as every cent counts. Griffin has come back in the best shape in years and finished near the top of North's time trial. The talent is there, and now it looks like the fitness is too.

Fun fact: Griffin's uncle is Andrew Vlahov, a former basketballer so I assume [PLAYERCARD]Scott Pendlebury[/PLAYERCARD] knows him.

Jackson Mead, despite what you may think, is notable. He has played 64 AFL games as a father/son pick for Port Adelaide and may just hold the record for the most games of AFL played without getting his own Wikipedia article.

That makes Jackson less popular online than Hundeprutterutchebane, a barely known dog-fart themed roller coaster in Denmark.

Going by Port fans they would probably prefer a dog fart listed in their starting line up. Mead is one of those guys listed as a 'midfielder / forward' but nobody really knows what the hell he does. Kenny picked him 20 times in 2025 and he managed 3 goals in a season, 2 of those against the Hawks in round 5. Mead laid 7 tackles against the kangaroos, after which they promptly applied for a priority pick. Mead gets a dozen or so touches a game, numbers inflated by a 22 handball game against Richmond. He was dropped a couple of times but recalled a couple of times because he presumably has quite a big trapezoid shaped space on Kenny's dartboard.

Mead just somehow keeps getting picked despite being a bit slow for his height, a bit short for his game style, not overly skilled nor does he show a huge footy IQ. He is contracted for next year so it will be interesting to see how many games (if any) he gets in 2026. Perhaps Port are nursing him to 100 games in case there's a npother father/son down the line somehwere.

Fun fact: Jackson's dad Darren was the first Port Adelaide AFL-listed player to make it to 100 games, and won 3 SANFL premierships in 94, 95 & 96. He won Port's B&F in Port's first year in the AFL (97).
