Now that I think about it, there’s a bit in this.

First of all - who wants to be doing cashies ads? Can’t imagine they have a huge advertising budget given they’ve probably been stripped of half their clientele since gumtree and now marketplace have come along.

But if you’re doing work on the side for a league sponsor, it would undoubtedly put the league itself in a tight spot if they wanted to run a negative story on you.

All of this said - did Lachie take on the cashies ads to add a layer of protection to himself should the shit about his illegitimate son ever come out? Or just knowing in general he’s a root rat, is that the talk in clubland - just do a few ads for the league sponsors and you’re untouchable?

He hadn’t retired yet, so had at least one more in him regardless of this event. Injury does seem to be impacting a bit, but in terms of quality, you’d expect him to be good for playing at 35 or so. Linking him playing to that point to some kind of cashflow issue is fantasyland stuff.
