Reminds me of a story from my primary school days about former SA Cricket Captain, Les Favell.

He came to our country primary school in the mid 1970's to do a days cricket coaching (some other SA players came as well but I cant remember who they were but I think Jeff Hammond may have been one of them)

We were told by Les to sit down on the oval and he would do some talking before we started with the bats and balls.

One of my mates (who hated cricket and couldn't give a shit) was carrying on a bit and Les walked over, grabbed him by the arm, dragged him out in front of the rest of us and gave him a whack on the arse with a bat he was holding and told him to stop being disrespectful and that he (Favell) was not going to waste his time if 'you young blokes don't want to listen'

No joke. Imagine doing that today..

I was 10 at the time and my everlasting memory of that day (apart from my mate getting whacked) was that Favell was a very arrogant and grumpy man.
On cricketers, we were visiting friends in Warrnambool about 30 years ago and went to see a local footy game where Merv Hughes was out having a kick of the footy on the ground at half time.

My mate's 5 year old son adored Merv and, being the pre-selfie era, went up to him pen and paper in hand and asked Merv for his autograph.

Merv told him to f*** off.

Just about the broke the little fella emotionally 🤣

But seriously, what a campaigner.

Is it wrong that I sort of sympathise with Les here?
if you think this was bad in the 70s, kids are much worse nowadays

Nick Watson, to nobody’s surprise, was rude to my wait staff friend. He got the impression that Nick considered him inferior - wouldn’t make eye contact and talked like he was giving orders.
I dunno it'd be hard being that ****in short

In the last 12 months, have had a lot to do with John Barker (ex Fitz,Haw) through my work.

Absolute ripper of a bloke, very kind to everyone. Is still mates with Crawf, Buddy etc and has some unbelievable stories.

Additionally, through my work have had experiences with Steven Milne and Steven Baker.

Absolute flogs of the highest order, especially when drinking

Quite a few good blokes. Jack Anthony was odd. He bought me a beer then walked off Without saying a word. Like a thief in the night.

Think that's been firmly established from past history from those two. Tiprat is an unpleasant human being who's lucky he had talent to make it at the highest level as well as he did but he's a Noble Park boy through and through in general. Just an utter tosser.
