Very anti-Semitic actually. Even before 1967, some orthodox Jews opposed the creation of Israel for religious reasons, and didn't think a secular Jewish state was in line with its written law or the Torah.

Many also thought expelling Palestinians and also erasing the history of "Palestinian Jews" would create more and unsustainable anti-Semitism.


I think I've already outlined in my previous post the conflation of anti-Israel and anti-semitism from an etymological point, but whether you agree with the framing or not, it doesn't change the fact that freedom of expression is a basic human right.

If I want to say that — Israel should not exist as a Jewish state — even if you completely disagree with it, that's my right under article 19 of the ICCPR, provided it doesn't encite imminent violence.

So I'm not sure how these proposed hate speech laws here in Australia are going to work given they won't pass the international law threshold or the High Court.

The law protects people from discrimination (Jews) not ideology or states (Zionism, Israel).
