You tell us this every year. And every year it turns to s..t!

Not really I’ve known it’s wet other years. It’s going to be warm on Sunday with some rain late around dinner in Sydney basically it’s nothing

He spoke a lot about how he was constantly told by his own community growing up that he'd never play for Australia. That cannot lead to a healthy relationship with taking criticism.

He can be both right that he cops it harder than many, while also being incorrect about how he seemingly lumps all criticism into that unfair bucket. Obviously felt this was his last chance to say a lot of things, but it felt like a very bitter press conference in what should be a time for celebration.

It's been interesting listening to Usman over the years, especially the last few. He seems to believe he cops more unfair criticism than the average cricketer.

He obviously cops a bit for his non-cricket views from certain groups, but the criticisms of his performance have never felt unwarranted. He hasn't been criticised more than, say, Mitch Marsh.

He did compare it to the likes of Lyon and Hazelwood which I didn't agree with. Lyon and Hazelwood were injured while performing at the expected level. Uz got injured while not performing at said level.

The English copped a baking for getting on the piss and going on holiday in Noosa while 2-0 down. I doubt they get the same if it was 2-0 up.

If you're not performing then people are going to question if you're preparing right.

I get the impression he is someone who never saw the end coming and had to get tapped on the shoulder and is not happy about it.
At 39 surely he can see their thinking

Or Scott Muller

Uzzie’s not my fave but I do respect how he was able to turn his career around and become a very good player at an older age. That said Uzzie is one of the biggest whingers and him attributing valid criticism to racial injustice his faced as a kid coming up the ranks is hilarious.

I’ve stated it a few times in previous threads but I don’t think anyone should be playing Golf the day before the game and they should all he fair game for the media if they hurt themselves and cannot compete to their very best.

He's always been a league above Mitch Marsh as a player.

Mark Waugh is a better comparison. Same silky smooth wrists and extra time to play his shots. Very similar record. Uzzy wasn't preferred in his career the same way though.

Fancy elaborating on that insightful yet somewhat concise post?

Same old story.

Coloured man says he's proud of his heritage, amongst many other things. Social media picks up just that line and spreads it. Narrative becomes "why isn't he proud to be Aussie" (spoiler, he also said he is), or "why isn't he grateful for his career" (spoiler, he also said he is).

And it's all just a little bit of history repeating

With Bashir bowling pies, those in the standa better be ready.

Maybe he'll get a few junk time or 'stupid shot' wickets, Borthwick-style.

It wouldn't surprise me.
