Mum took me to her GF's house once when i was about 13 and she had painted japanese ancient style pr0n scenes on her walls in her bedroom. I had enough spank bank material for weeks after that.
For your mums girlfriend or the paintings? Or both 🤣

Painting on bedroom walls used to be a bit of a thing in the old days. Don’t see it at all now.
I bought a house in the 80’s ,just a normal 3 bedroom place that had a built in bar in the living room all decked out with built in wine racks underneath.
I loved that bar but those sort of things now are another thing that’s gone out of fashion, unless you have some massive mansion.

We were dinks for like 20 years, bought our first house in elizabeth downs as it was ****ing cheap and we were both at Uni. We got like 30k gifted equity as it was my missus' grandmas place. Got us in the door. Flipped it i think 6 years later after Uni, landed good jobs. Climbed the property ladder and have invested into stocks. Kids has definitely put a handbrake on growth but we bought our second place for 575k and its now 1.4m but we harnessed equity to reinvest into the house and build it as an asset.

It hasnt been all smooth sailing but we were kinda frugal early days and lived in a shocking area just to get us into a house. I only ended up renting for 3 months of my life before we both decided **** that and put everything on the line to make sure we got a house. We did both work full time during Uni (i did my degree like 90% as absentee) so sacrifices were definitely made early to set us up for where we are now. It did take some time for the momentum to build and it did require a fair bit of ambition. I had to job hop a lot early days to increase my wage. Started in government on around a 50k graduate wage after working in retail managememt for 5 years during uni taking all the weekend and penalty rate days. I didn't have a weekend for years. From there, got internally promoted to a about 75k, then left for 100k into consulting, then from consulting to local government for 120k then local government to startup for 150k then internal promotion to 180k and I wont disclose what i'm on now a few more jobs deeper.

The missus really got the ball rolling somehow landing an 80k job straight out of Uni, but she stagnated around the 110k mark and obviously now kids and part time etc. but our double income was huge for a long time and we dont travel or generally spend big on anything besides cars and back into the house.

I did still have to work full time on chemo for the money, so we are asset rich but not totally sort of liquid cash rich. It was particularly bad timing as the missus was on maternity leave and her income was like 25% of what it was so I had to carry the can a bit.

Regardless, all goes back to the early work really, very long term pooled incomes from our "high school sweethearts" situation and that little leg up from the missus' grandma to help us avoid mortgage insurance for buying her house. It was $200k, bottom of the barrel shit. We sold it for 220k but had built some nice equity to put forward onto house number 2 where we are now. We are blessed but i'd like to think atleast some has been off the sweat of the brow.

Well done, your hard work has paid off. I have a similar story.

My husband and I are the same. We are now in the teenage stage (2 girls) 6 years in total of paying private school fees, however my career and income has grown substantially in the last couple of years and will continue as I work my way along the tiers of my new job away completely away from the bedside. House is paid off. Sound mixed investments in stocks, bonds and metals will ensure a very comfortable retirement alongside being able to assist both our daughters into the property market.

We both came from families without tertiary qualifications, stay at home mothers and blue collar dad's. We have definitely started building intergenerational wealth by living frugally whilst in our twenties and early thirties before the girls came along.

I remember in the early 80s my Dad buying a portable bar from a furniture shop. He had all the trimmings, bottles of plonk, glasses, it was quite the novelty back then but probably would be an eyesore these days.

I used to be a stickler for watching the news and reading media. I freed myself of that agenda driven bs quite a while ago and it feels good.
Dads always watching Sky News and all it does it get him angry for no reason.

But he still does it, because he is their target demographic.

had to time it for the rain on the first day

shitney shouldnt be allowed to have cricket
Sydney for Sunday. Partly cloudy. High chance of showers, most likely in the afternoon and early evening. A thunderstorm likely, possibly severe with damaging winds, large hail and heavy rain which may lead to flash flooding. Winds N/NE 15 to 20 km/h tending E/NE in the afternoon then becoming light in the late evening. LOL.

A yes, large hail and damaging winds. Thats prime test weather.

Sydney test matches have had a bad run with weather and results in recent times.
Always on the cards to rain there this time of the year.

The gym I went to in Canberra always had it on the big screen in the cardio room lol. I think the owner was a bit of a cooker. Nothing gets you fired up to lift some weights more than looking at peta credlin and that little gimp boy Caleb whatsit talking some absolute Charlie Kirk level nonsense

I guess thats the thing about media these days. They all just cater to the leanings of the audience so its like, ok so who exactly are you trying to convince here? No righty is gonna watch the project and be like "hmmm yes you have convinced me that mass immigration is ideal." And no lefty is gonna watch Credlin and go "hmm yes Peta, you have managed to convince me that mass immigration is bad."

It's just hilarious screaming into the void, why watch any of that shit and just make your own minds up on your own empirical evidence and your own truth and vote accordingly and who ****ing cares what anyone else thinks.
