I think the mid terms are the defining moment in this term. While it's 99% likely at this stage he won't get impeached, if the polls really look bad for a republican wipe out which they already do, I think that 1% is going to very quickly rapidly increase.

There have been times where congress ratified regime change and other times where Presidents went around congress. Just vaguely asserting this is a US thing, and not about individuals would make sense if the process was democratic. It clearly isn't in this case.

So you don’t have a problem with another country entering and removing a citizen from that country. So if Russia went into Ukraine and removed Zelensky you would be all ok with that? Or perhaps China do the same with the Taiwanese President? You are ok with that?

Nothwithstanding the Maduro wasn’t popular in his own country.

Lets be clear around 8 million Venezuelans have left the country over the past 12 years - around 3 million are in Colombia. Perhaps they will be able to go back home once this mess is sorted out.

I’ll be able to get a first hand account of the current feeling in the USA - heading there in 4 weeks.

I agree with the Putin comment: he has zero self-awareness.

Hate to say it but Putin is right. Putin could have done a snatch and grab of Zelensky a long time ago but is choosing the pressure of war to try and win over Ukraine. The reason is while war is a bad look, snatch and grabbing of leaders is a hollow victory and one that doesnt bode well for building or maintaining international diplomacy with your allies as it is proven to backfire. No one thinks Maduro is a good leader but they can smell made up charges and the guise of stealing assets a mile away.
