man, Tana. As a package (in-ring, face & company ace, business success, setting up the next ace, etc), surely the greatest wrestler of the 21st century. Just an amazing wrestler, even on his last legs he still pulled out multiple great matches over the last year and of course last night was an all timer. what a guy

the card was obviously just a 3 match card, it's bizarre that with a packed house plus legit television coverage in Japan they didn't do more to highlight their new generation wrestlers in the undercard, but at least Aaron Wolf & Yota Tsuji went over and looked great.

look, to be clear, I'm not saying Naka's looking for sympathy or anything like that, but this whole Naka discourse around Tana's last match has been so stupid (some of it played out in niche parts of the fandom so some might be unaware of it). If Naka wanted to be there, he's had like 5 or 6 years since his first WWE contract expired to come back to NJPW. A few years ago, a DDT wrestler retired and Naka sent into a video for the retirement ceremony. It wasn't even allowed to be shown on the stream. That's just the way it is. It's beyond me why this even became a thing.

Saki Akai's retirement. not sure if that was due to WWE or Abema though.

Njpw is a major affiliate of aew. I would struggle to put DDT even close to the same category. Especially not a couple years ago. It was a pipe dream and I'm not sure why so many fans can't understand it was unlikely to ever happen.
You wouldn't see Omega rocking up to AAA for someones retirement.

Forgive me if I've missed something but I don't think Nakamura has made a big deal out of anything. He just asked for his band to be worn so he could be there in spirit. Nothing more sinister than that.

Edit: just saw Nakamura did an interview with Tokyo sport. Still didn't seem like a major complaint from him.
Apparently sent Tanahashi some flowers.

Yuto-Ice knocked everything out of the park tonight. good grief.

eh, all the other tributes that got sent in (led by Tana) were shown, and then when it was time for Naka, the audio was cut and the video focused only on Saki (seeing her freak out in the ring was better anyway tbf)

its hard not to think it was a WWE directive and whatever, that's fine, that's the company

Of course not, WWE wouldn't let him....

I think it's a bit insane they didn't let Nak attend even for the post match stuff. Unfortunately WWE does not operate in a goodwill environment, only when they stand to gain something or hurt their competition.

I don't know how you could see the emotion from Tana and Shibata and then think Nak would somehow be indifferent...
