Righty. I’m sure there is video, gimme a second

Edit: in Pakistan

In shield

Bring him on if Smith and Brooks are blocking them to a draw. They'd be moronic enough to get out to him.

Yorkie.

I've said it before, I'll say it again.

The closest thing Poms have to Aussies. Generally great people.

They don't like those soft southerners (In a Yorkshire accent). :D
Sort of.

The further North you go up that way, the closer the parallels and humour are (lived in the North East for a large part of my life).

Steve Waugh at the same age as Green

Waugh: 2,166 runs @36.1 from 71 Innings
Green: 1,744 runs @ 32.3 from 58 innings

The talent is there and he will come good.

Everyone loves to use Steve Waugh as the comparison. Think the exact comparisons were made when Mitch Marsh had made 1000 runs @ 30 when he was 26

I think Green needs a sports psychologist more than anything else
It wasn't the way he got out today but he has the Shaun Marsh problem of looking all at sea for the first 20 balls. Unless he fixes it he'll have a test career like him

My first thought, before the match began was that we''d stacked our batting line-up since we didn't need to win this game, and that pitch/conditions would also stop ENG taking 20 wickets.

Seems to have worked a treat. Congrats Head & Smith. Not surprised that Webster has make a contribution - he really seems to shine on the biggest stages.

Webster isn't "a state bloke who's nowhere near it" though.
Happy with Webster, he’s not who I’m referring to.

Im saying both Green and him should be playing because they’re the best we have and the next guys in the conversation are unproven state players in the Weatherald mold.

McSweeney and Renshaw seem to be the consensus but they’re not sure things either and have both “failed” at the top level.

Why does it have to be Webster or Green when both look like they’re in the top handful of players that can score international runs.

He use to struggle to a start, now he gets a start and gets himself out.

I think it's more mental than a skill issue.
He just doesn't seem hungry enough for a big score, a bit like Mark Waugh when he got to 100 and even admitted himself he struggled to have the focus to keep on scoring.

Except for Green the barrier seems to be around 40.

I agree. Keep web and green in the team. And also Jake as opener. Chopping and changing meh. Let them settle. And green to work on his footwork and body positioning. Just my take.

Because Green averaged 21 for the calendar year and does not have the career form to warrant backing in.

He has been in the team long enough to judge him on his production and not what he 'looks like he can be'.

Safe to say England can't win it from here. Just can't see their bowling attack ripping through us tmrw. So 4-1 would be a brilliant result as it would mean it's been a comprehensive thrashing.
If not 3-1 prob be a more accurate gauge on the series, and would take that any day of the week! But yeah, we're in a very good position to win this

5 tests is a long time to let a 31 year old settle. After the way he batted in the first dig, i would say he's in a bit of strife

Did Webster get injured during 2025? I'm trying to understand how he wasn't picked earlier in this series, given how well he did when he came in for the series against India.

His test record, although brief, would not warrant him being dropped for Green.
IIRC the mentality was "He's only the substitute guy while Green was injured, Green is the incumbent and will come back".

On top of that, Webster had a mediocre start to this Shied season, so that made the decision to bring Green back easier.
