Aus cricket boys club. Once you are in, you are set
After 30 odd tests he still plays like a 16 year old playing his first A grade match.
He's promising, got all the attributes, but no mental capacity to actually do anything worth while.

LOL commentators giving him all the excuses. He never should've went for that it was going straight to Smith.
The only criticism they actually made wasn't even a legitimate one... It's fair that he doesn't have his sunglasses on while he's in the middle of a bowling spell... Taking them on and off would mess with your vision.

One drop catch and he's a rubbish fielder. Numbnuts

“Of course everyone looks bad if you pick just one of the 73 disappointing things they did in the series and hyperfocus on it!”

Well you started with the post about their averages being similar last year.

No I didn’t. I think you’re confusing me with someone else (the poster who shared the Twitter post of the two batsmen’s figures from 2025). I’ve compared them since but my initial comment was ‘No commentator would say that because it wouldn’t be true. He’s been one of the best openers in the world for a number of years and a very poor series won’t change that.’

I'll play devil's advocate here, fielding in slips is a split second decision. You don't get five minutes to decide the best course of action.

You see catches taken regularly in front of other slips fielders.

Where Green stuffed up here was not in going for the catch - it was stuffing it up once he'd decided to go for it.
It also wasn't straight down Smith's throat given he had already taken a couple of steps across. I think it went slower than he thought which meant he misjudged it

It's still a remarkable selection though, particularly as when he was first selected in the Test side he hadn't made a ton at any level - f-c, List A or 20/20.

To put it in perspective, when is the last time an Aussie was selected in the Test side as a specialist batter without having scored a f-c century?
It was indeed and one very much based on a Denis Denuto rationale. Probably similar to Shane Warne getting picked in that selector's had seen enough raw talent there without the necessarily the stats to back it up
