I’ve seen players control a mark and then place it on the ground mid slide. They still get paid marks because there’s common sense being applied

Dude, there’s literally only two possibilities at play tonight.

1. You literally didn’t know the clear and long established laws and adjudication of catches in cricket an hour ago.

Or

2. You did know the rules but are throwing a hissy-fit all of a sudden because your team was inconvenienced by them

Whatever option it is, the conclusion is that you aren’t to be taken seriously.

BBL teams are soul less franchises.
Even so with 4 Titles in the old big bash and one title with the Rengades - Vic teams are equal with WA on 5 domestic T20 titles.
Melbourne based supporters are the most fickle in the country. Record crowds if their team is up and about but nowhere to be seen if they aren’t winning.

Absolutely was a block but also not as match defining as something like this
Haha of course not. Something that happens with 4 overs left in a random BBL game verses the last 2 minutes of a Grand Final

But it does sound like you did celebrate it which is disgraceful

Almost like they are different sports with different rules about what constitutes a catch/mark

I’ve seen one other catch paid like this in decades of cricket and it happened 2 years ago.

Trawl through some old cricket highlights and you’ll find thousands of catches taken like this

Do I need to spell it out?

Peake was the matchwinner in a game he shouldn’t have been taking any further part in.

Collingwood had two minutes to win the game, of which WC should have kicked another one anyway so it’s a moot point.

Fair bit different to a player scoring 20 runs at a good clip to win a cricket game when the next bloke in was a bowler.

Well to be fair, most people realise it’s a bit of a Mickey Mouse hit and giggle comp for fun on a summer night, not to be taken as life or death.

Then again, Coasters7 is not most people.
Yeah I keep hearing this ,but there’s alot of youngsters and certainly plenty of adults who don’t and are genuinely invested in the league and their team.

I mean are you saying the Brisbane heat / rest of the teams players DGAF whether they win or lose???

I find it such a cope and condescending wank of take and it seems it gets repeated ad nauseum on this site

Why is that such a bad thing / so apparently lame to genuinely support your BBL team?

but say AFL and world futbol for that matter ,are much more “worthy” of real support ,yet both have proven and ridiculous amounts of corruption and manipulation by their governing bodies in getting certain and desired results ….

Maybe it’s just me ,but it’s not my business to tell people what sports they should genuinely invest their support in and what they should not.

*as for coasters yeah he’s just a little bit special on his own with his views

Constantly said by people who spend their time watching the games and commenting on them in a thread about the very league they supposedly hate....thats always quite amusing to me

You frame it as though their is no middle ground between not giving a shit and giving wayyy too much of a shit.

I think you’ll find most people here are somewhere in the middle. Moderately invested but with a healthy dose of perspective on where it all really sits.

Most of these people follow teams that are consistently terrible and complain that the same sides win it every year and why we should be doing to restrict these teams.

If the Stars were sitting here with 5 titles do we think their supporters wouldn’t be carrying on about how good the BBL is?

Go have a look at the volatility of the Essendon or Carlton supporter bases for evidence. Feigning interest until their side actually shows up.

I was watching in a pub without sound. I could tell what was happening but in my book that’s an obvious catch.

Did the on field umpires review the review? What happened there?

Was an exciting finish tonight’s game and the parochial WA booing added to it.

Think we all thought Renegades had made a meal of it but thankfully Peake saved the day.

I’m not biggest fan of T20 cricket but the kids love it and it’s a great school holiday activity.

Super Smash is going on at present and the crowds are minuscule.

3rd umps said Turner wasn't in control of his body when the ball hit the grass while in his hand. Pretty similar to the Starc one in the 2023 ashes which everyone agreed should've been a catch

The Starc one I disagree with but also sort of understand because he balanced himself on the ball whilst sliding.

Turner had the ball in his hand from above his head until he hit the ground and intentionally rolled. If that’s not under control then I’m not sure what is

People inventing that rule (and subsequently the ones agreeing with it) are just looking to cause a stir from something that really isn’t that complex and doesn’t need to be overthought.

Not that I’m overly invested but it’s hard to accept that when my eyes can see that his hand is controlling the ball throughout. That being the definition of a catch as far as I’m concerned.

It's a dud ruling, not in the Spirit of Cricket™ etc. but if you only make 127 you dig your own grave

Biased Australian fans who were wrong, much like West Australians are wrong tonight.
