They're used to swooping anyway. Koby Evans they didn't mind as much but Charlie Banfield really got the pitchforks out on their board.

I just want the eagles to be great again. I’m trying to help them.

He will only be a restricted free agent if his money in this last year is big enough, given the Lions have bought a few players lately he might have enjoyed a front loaded deal and be an unrestricted free agent. Ultimately, I don't think it matters, Brisbane will say thanks and let him go. Playing as a 34 year old during his first season at a new club - he might be lucky to get a contract that isn't insulting at all.

Any side offering him two or even three years, perhaps as a coaching package, would win him and Brisbane would pat him on the back as they walk him out past the cups.

It has created speculation that Neale, 32, could return to Western Australia at season's end, when he is out of contract and an unrestricted free agent.

"I don't know the answer to that either. I hope he does [stay], but he's an unrestricted free agent," Fagan said on Thursday.

"So he can make a call on what he needs to do. He probably needs the next six or seven months to see what the next right step is.

"I hope he stays and plays with us. But if he chooses to move back to Perth, because he needs to be close to his children, then he'll do that with our blessing.

"We're not going to hold anyone to ransom. We'll just go along with the flow on that."

Unrestricted free agent and goes with the Lions blessing… What are we starting the bidding at Elixuh ?

I must say, if we are to be negotiating for an entire 10 months I am very glad it is with my fine colleagues at the WCE and Freo, and not the Adelaide despots.

Brisbane won't be involved in any negotiations. It'll be between Neale, West Coast and Fremantle only.

The way Fagan spoke today almost sounded like he could walk from the Lions very soon?

He cant go till the end of the year. He also might wait until later in the year to decide if hes retiring (which he will ultimately have to do anyway if neither wce or freo want him) and then moving to Perth.

It does create the conversation could neale live in wa and play for the lions too. Hes meticulous with hes preparation, training, etc, he could actually do that anywhere and the players respect hes playing ability enough it could work.

I think if he was 30, the lions would seriously think about it, but at 34 or 35 theyll let him go with their blessing, as the lions will need cap space for the ashcrofts, Marshall etc. It also gives the lions 12 months to lure another star up north too, zac merrett maybe more interested in joining the lions in 12 months and he wont have the price tag of this year.

I think he is going to be managed through the year. Id expect he gets like 2 or 3 "managed" games for sure
Yep extended rest for the mid season bye round. They also get an early bye due to rd 0 which will be useful.

With shows/pods like Gettable, Tradies and Midweek tackle it will be talked about all year and a likely clear favourite by the bye rounds on where he is likely to be in 2027.

Neale’s greatest moment was making Bailey Smith look like a soft, lazy campaigner in last year’s GF.

Surely he is worth two first rounders for that alone, if Bailey’s cuck (Dillon) will allow it.
