Josh Frydenberg. Out of his depth.

Josh the tosh wants an RC, Then he gets one, then he doesn't like the highly qualified justice that should oversee the RC, and starts barking like a wounded dog, and he wonders why his community is targeted. You cannot win with these folk, be better off not having an RC at all.

It makes sense because they're not seeking justice or fairness, they're seeking exceptionalism.

That's why it's an RC about anti-semitism and not about religious discrimination.

Also, because Frydenberg was in the cabinet of a party which wanted to water down religious discrimination laws to permit it more. They want to both ban any criticism of Israel because Israel is Jewish, but also wanted to be able to discriminate if you're religious against non-religious people or people of other faiths.

Now they're clutching their pearls because people were attacked by a madman and they want to link it to discrimination against religion, but not the discrimination they proposed against other people on the basis of religion.

They have two objectives:

Ban anti-genocide or Pro-Palestinian rights protests.
Ban criticism of Israel.

Those are their two aims.

There are only a handful of symbols banned by Governments and they're mostly about anti-semitism. But they want more. They want all criticism of Israel stamped out, but want to reserve the right to justify launching wars against Iran, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Qatar, Egypt, Iraq and Turkey.

The guy they wanted to run it is a Fed Court judge who went on Sky “News” to complain about “anti semitism at universities”. They only want one outcome and finding from this “commission”.

they also wanted a long drawn out spectacle ..... a circus the msm could use and abuse ... needling the govt in the lead up to the next election

a walter sofronoffesque marionette that could orchestrate the circus barnum bailey style would have been the icing on the cake .... sadly [for them] they didnt get their man

If we use these arguments now then all it does is give conservatives an out whenever gun control is brought up immediately after massacres. They will simply repost the same memes.

We need more gun control. We need strong politics after tragedies as its often the only time strong reform can be achieved. But not if we attack politicians during these times labelling them as grifters. Attack frydenburg for coming up with the wrong solution and not the fact he is trying to come up with solutions during this time.
He's not trying to come up with solutions. he's using a tragedy to try to score political points.

Exactly!

In the unlikely event that anyone calling themselves a journalist is reading Big Footy:

WHY HAS NOBODY RAISED THIS?

Is it because to you, politics is not about what matters in peoples' lives, it's merely a never-ending soapie, and if one of you pointed out this bleeding obvious fact about the anti-race hate laws, the Opposition's entire argument would collapse, and then, oh damn, you'd have to find a new confection to dangle before us?

His solution is crack down on anti semitism. Whether its the wrong or right solution is irrelevant. Its still a solution.

No he is using this situation to score political points for his political party, a party that can only generate relevance thru this sort of behaviour cos its policies and attitudes have been thoroughly rejected by the Australian electorate.

most are pseudo journos who are little more than note-takers. frydo is a hypocrite.

Complete capture of the media by major political parties.

It’s the same the world over. Trump sits there in a press conference, surrounded by media, and openly says “I ended 10 wars.”

Not one person says “what are the ten wars you ended sir?”

One morning it seemed the everyone in the jewish community was against the appointment of Virginia Bell.

And then I woke up the following day and there wasn't a peep of dissent. Gee, that happened quick. Almost like it was co-ordinated, although I'm sure that wasnt the case. Of course, it wasn't.

You're misinterpreting the problem. And I think the Zionists are probably deliberately, or maybe accidentally trying to misinterpret the problem.

They want all criticism of Israel to be declared anti-semitism and therefore illegal.

Perhaps they truly feel that. But they need to get over it.

It would be ironic if the Royal Commission found that criticism of Israel isn't anti-semitism (as the Federal Court has already ruled) and that the deliberate conflation of the two by the Israeli Government and its supporters is undermining real efforts to stamp out actual anti-semitism.

Israel and Jewishness being conflated appears likely to have been in the minds of the terrorists. But the only other people who think that way are the Government of Israel and its supporters. So every time the Government of Israel and its supporters conflate them, it works in the minds of terrorists.

If a terrorist is looking to hurt Israel and the Israeli Govt keeps saying attacks on Jews and attacks on Israel are the same thing, then they're only encouraging terrorists to attack Jews to hurt Israel. But it still doesn't mean anti-semitism and criticism of Israel are the same thing, just that the Israeli Government and some terrorists think that.

And if I were a Jew, I would want that link to be completely broken for my own safety, not protected.

What's the rule for lawyers or is it journalists?.....never ask a question that you dont know the answer to. I'm confident the RC will deliver the goods. If it doesnt, it will only prove that Virginia is antisemitic. res ipsa loquitur.

Two issues/questions with this though
  1. What is classified as anti-semitism?
  2. How do you "crack down" on it?

It will be fantastic if the royal commission looks into the dismissal of Antoinette Lettouf, the sacking of Khaled Sabsab, the cancelling of Dr. Abdel-Fattah and all of the other pathetic examples of various bodies crumbling under the same pressure that Albanese seems to have crumbled under.

Or if the RC says:

The australian govt has taken lots of steps to address anti-semitism, but the actions of Israel in committing genocide and then linking that genocide to semitism is creating grounds for violence against Jews everywhere.

Using antisemitism as a cover for institutions and politicians to engage in other forms of discrimination.

I'm not sure how excluding Palestinians from public life, whipping up furore against Muslims or migrants as part of an election strategy, or introducting onerous anti-protest laws helps counteract antisemitism, but then I'm not a Sky News host, LNP Minister or tragic, or Labor right darling such as Minns.

Nobody has ever failed in politics as badly as Josh Frydenberg.

Gifted a Blue-ribbon seat, he slowly dwindled down his margin until he became unelectable.

Despite spending the most on any campaign, he failed miserably. Amelia Hamer did better than him, but he'd turned off so many voters, it was going to be a hill to climb despite the seat being full of Liberal Blue Bloods.

Silver Spoon from birth, he's only ever been wrong. That SA pic is a classic. Sums up his whole life. Incredibly confident while being completely wrong in the face of science, common sense and decided to act like a w@nker because he's too privileged to treat the SA Premier with respect.
