ER Season 12

still excellent.
the end of NeelaMichael, Pratt in Darfur, AbbyLuka leading the opening credits and gone Greys-conscious, the James Woods MND ep, John Leguizamo's volatile stint, Armand Assante, John Stamos, Weaver loses the crutch, even Serena Williams (yes that one) searching for her kids through plane crash wreckage

Ends on the most emotional terms for ER fans (set to Snow Patrol's Open Your Eyes), with a military funeral, Jerry GSW in trauma, Sam & Alex abducted by prison breakout born again ex, and most of all (in one of the highlight moments of the series) Abby's bloody hand on the sutures room door as paralyzed barely breathing Luka can't do anything about it but watch:sob:

Puts me off watching The Wire or The Sopranos, even though I don't think I've heard anyone make a negative comment about them.
Neither of those shows went on too long. They both maintained an incredible level of quality from start to finish.

I also wonder if these shows can now work in this climate. There were a lot of jokes that they can’t get away with anymore.
Is that because it's against the law to offend anyone these days?

The poor precious souls who are so easily offended could always just not watch it, couldn't they?

I’ve never watched Game Of Thrones. All my mates pulled themselves over it that much I’ve boycotted it out of spite and stubbornness
Lol! Me too. Exactly the same reason.

Sure but I think there’s also people maturing and being educated on how certain jokes can cause negativity throughout society. The It’s always Sunny crew spoke about this a lot on their podcast.

What's the joke about? Who's being offended, and why? Who's telling the joke? How are they telling it? Context. It's all about context. People now seem to decide that they're offended because it may cause offence to this particular group of people or to that other group of people. It's censorship gone mad. We'd better not say anything just in case.

And how exactly will any particular joke cause negativity? Racism for example. A joke poking fun at any particular race of people is not going to cause racism. A racist a**hole is going to be a racist a**hole. Period. They're not going a suddenly become racist because of a joke that a bunch of flower sniffers want banned because they have an extremely limited sense of humour. Would these people be able to sit through Blazing Saddles ? If they're religious types, we'd better not show them Life Of Brian.
It's f**king ridiculous. Have we woken up in the 1950's or something? If Lenny Bruce or George Carlin were around today surely they'd be thrown in jail for causing indescribable and inexcusable offence.

I used to read sci fi and fantasy style books back in school. The ones that were a next level up from choose your own adventure books (almost like a book version of rpg video games), roll a dice, write down your stats etc.

You'd think that the LOTR franchise was made for me. But I've not read the books or seen the films, just don't find them appealing!
Fighting Fantasy, Lone Wolf among others.

Some of those books are highly collectible now if you still have them.

On LOTR loved the books growing up, own The Hobbit & LOTR on 4K and still have never watched them lol.
I will get around to them one day.

Northern Exposure is finally streaming.
Loved this quirky show back in the day, so good to revisit it again.

Been watching this too, and loving it.

I just finished Ponies and for a show which I was really enjoying I have to say the finale was just absolute horse shit. At least its only 8 episodes.

Star Trek-Starfleet Academy eps 1 and 2.
If the birth defects caused by exposure to lead based paint during pregnancy was a tv show this would be it.
Why are you even still watching Star Trek or Star Wars? You seem to hate watch it just so you can complain online about how ‘woke’ it’s gone. Which suggests you either didn’t understand the content in the first place or have changed so much as to no longer be its target market. Either way, maybe go watch a Tim Allen show instead.
