I've said elsewhere, but lets assume they do get a Democrat President and control of Congress, and they are back to normal leaders. No one is going to trust any agreement that extends beyond their term. The only way the US has any chance of regaining the trust of the rest of the world, is changes to their Constitution to weaken the power of the President. Reducing what Executive orders can do, clearly adding they are liable for illegal acts in office (and can be prosecuted for one's when not in office, when President), with immediate removal if convicted of anything but very minor offenses. Presidents found to have lied must appear before Congress and provide evidence they thought they were telling the truth, a third strike and again out of office (Trump wouldn't have lasted either Inauguration).
Drones are great, but you need to have land near the battlefield to utilise from if you're talking large numbers, so they are a complement (not replacement) to existing land forces. The reason they are so heavily used in Ukraine is Ukraine has a small airforce / no navy. Australia needs to massively up their production of them, and properly integrate them into the Army (and for coastal monitoring / defense) but they aren't a replacement for tanks or artillery, plus FPV drones are limited range, they aren't great for attacking countries far away. Submarines are still useful, but cheaper non-nuke subs, and some of the money used to buy our way into the B-21 program, buying a dozen of those, would be better than an all nuclear submarine, very expensive force. A dozen B-21's would allow Australia to put any country in our neighbourhoods cities at risk of retaliation.

Agreed, and all it took for the septic tanks to commit political suicide on the world stage and in the process destroy `the past 50 + years' was to give an absolute lunatic a 2nd chance to make a bigger mess of the country when instead he should have been jailed for inciting a riot where innocent people were killed, and it could have been multiple times that number if the rampaging hoard had been able to break through to where other potential victims were being protected by security staff.
