The first ground of appeal says:The trial judge got it wrong when he ruled that the things Silvagni said to the complainant during the recorded pretext phone call could be treated as evidence of guilty behaviour. Specifically, he was wrong to decide that those statements (a) counted as evidence of guilt, (b) could reasonably be seen by the jury as evidence of guilt, and (c) could be used by the prosecution as evidence of guilt.

The second ground of appeal says:The trial judge gave the jury incorrect instructions about how they were allowed to use any evidence claimed to show guilty behaviour – in particular, (a) what they could properly use it for, and (b) the narrow situations in which they could use it at all.

This is just lawyers taking the Silvagni cash.

And the Silvagni's handing it over to them (/burning it).

As someone presently battling grade 4B head and neck cancer, prostate cancer, liver cancer and coincidentally off into Pete Mac (again!) today for my final zap of radiation on T12 spinal tumour, I think I have accrued enough meds over the last 12 months to compete with Chemist Warehouse? St Kilda gave a cooked Dan Hannerbury a five year deal because Simon Lethlean was best mates with his dad. Nobody at the club was able to say "No" to Lethlean.

Seems very strange to me the Saints haven't learnt their lesson and nobody said "No" to SOS offering his kid an overly generous contract.

Was the JSOS contract overly generous? Weve handed the keys to Ross and JSOS fills a pretty clear need. From all accounts it was a very widely discussed and critiqued decision so whether its right or wrong its not at all like the Hanners decision (which was just boys club bullshit).

Secondly, SOS had nothing at all to do with bringing his son to the club, he was excluded from everything involved with it.

Ive read this too, theres absolutely no way its true, it would be idiotic to not get input from SOS on his son, motivations, strengths weaknesses etc, I am sure we pulled him from the contract terms discussion (that would be too big a conflict) but he defs had something to do with it.

aussies almost get off when a successful person fails for some reason.

Jo and Steve didn’t ask to be put in this position, whilst they certainly shouldn’t garner anywhere near level of sympathy that the victim does, I can empathise with how difficult it must be for them.

Tom is the guilty party, who has ruined a lot of lives, especially the poor woman he r*ped.
