Not only that, if he returns to senior footy with Geelong, as soon as he touches the ball someone like Dwayne Russell will serve up something like "had a late start to the year due to a finger issue, great to see him back". Nothing more certain.

May have been the case years ago, but these days offences like this are victim-led. If the victim doesn't want to pursue charges for whatever reason, the police will drop it.

Depends how serious the crime and how strong the case is. If the victim withdraws a complaint police don't have a witness and may drop it. They're not going to waste money if their "star witness" refuses to cooperate

I believe that some things are deemed 'crimes against the state' so complaints being withdrawn by the victim wont matter if the state (Police) have enough evidence.
