UAE V Nepal in the Warm Up game and the Emiratis are off to a relatively conservative start in Chennai. Big Muhammed Waseem departed in the powerplay. UAE are 41/1.

Former Melbourne Stars man, Sandeep is playing for the Nepal national team today.

UAE are playing at the same venue, as their World Cup opening game against New Zealand.

Well if we did, 99% of Australian cricket fans would be thinking that's a pretty extreme measure. Which is exactly my point about Pak and Bangladesh's decision. Pak and India literally have nuclear missiles pointed at one another – so neutral grounds is necessary there. Bangladesh and India currently have strained relations over a number of issues, i get that, but not quite sure it's at that point yet. If Australia trusts security to do the job in Pakistan, surely it's safe for Bangladesh to play in India – possibly with the exception of West Bengal.
It’s not really about safety, that’s just the public excuse. It’s about standing up against a blatantly biased and corrupt system. The ICC and the BCCI are effectively the same organisation.

finishing 1st or 2nd may make a difference in terms of who they come up against
It actually doesn’t, the farcical nature of the group stage means that the teams have already been seeded into the 2nd round.

So for example - Australia can finish first or second - they’ll still end up in a group with India, South Africa and the West Indies (provided those teams also qualify) regardless of where they all finished in the first group.

It’s a ludicrous format, and it’s basically done to ensure India games are scheduled at the best times and the biggest grounds the whole way through to maximise $$.

ICC want to ensure they get the golden ticket of India v Australia in the next round (which is the second most profitable game particularly because they now aren’t getting India v Pakistan).

you are dead right and do agree with everything you are saying, but sadly Bangladesh is the real loser out of all this.

If people still need this explained to them, then they need to watch the documentary "Death Of A Gentleman" which pretty much explains the structure of world cricket.

Have no idea how he's performed in the past but you'd think he has all the tools to make a success of it – esp his ability to bowl spin and pace
Test performance is a poor indicator of T20I performance, no matter how much people in this thread want it to be otherwise.

Also what's with Canada and the black? Not a fan of England in the red, while Scotland's purple shirt is putrid. Love Italy in the blue, while Pakistan's lime green is pretty iconic.
Scotland have incorporated purple for a while now. Though I do prefer their dark navy of the 2007 world cup.

UAE going from all grey in 1996 to the graded blue and pink one was a huge step forward. And this year's shirt is a huge step backwards again.
