Blew the primeriship window by not trading in Gibbs, subsequently lost an entire young crop and unintentionally won the spoon? 😃

Having said that i think it's pretty difficult for anyone at the club until the directive comes from the board that they actually want to win the premiership not just make finals.

It wasn’t not trading in Gibbs that blew the premiership window. That was on the coach g group who were happy did it to be public knowledge that they entirely blamed the players lack of mental toughness.

The role of the List Manager is to buy, sell and retain players for the lowest reasonable price. The job of the List Management Committee is to design the list they believe will contend for a flag. The manager only undertakes the tasks assigned by the committee.

It’s not all Hamish - and players like Keane, Reid needs to get the deal done while competing with other clubs, as he did with the Cotton deal.

Regardless - Hamish has never been held accountable for some of his horror first round drafting that set our club back in the early rebuild stages - Ned, Jones, McAsey and Gullucci - all first round duds
If I recall correctly, didn't his wife die during this period?
Yes the drafting was damaging, but across his time, he's got a pretty good track record. I think we can be understanding if his private life had an impact there.

I would love a breakdown of who was drafted under each senior coach. The Don Pyke era really stands out as ordinary and leads me to believe it was much more likely his influence and not Hamish's ability to ID talent.

There is a stark difference...

Been very good in the past half a decade or so, but fresh blood is always nice, too (assuming it’s competent)

My mind goes to Shedda as a potential replacement, but would he want to stick in the drafting space, rather than overall list management?

Except other than soligo we’ve found no one after the first round under Nicks.
Job should be alot easier with high draft picks.

There's a few missing here, such as Will Hamill and Lachlan Sholl in 2018, and Josh Worrell, Ronin O'Connor and Lachlan Gollant in 2019

Depends how you define "after the first round". We took Nick Murray and Mark Keane in the SSP

Yeah fair enough, just going off the list provided.

Yeah, due to time only looked at the first two rounds or first two picks of the draft - didn't dive as deep as I possibly could have

Worth noting in this graph the draft years are post season, so Phil had passed and Pyke had already been appointed by the 2015 draft, likewise Pyke had walked and Nicks was already appointed by the 2019 draft.

October would be the worst possible time, surely? Right in the lead-up to delistings, trade period, etc?

Honestly, this is probably the best time of year for it to happen. No disruption to the season, list mostly set in stone for the year, a good 6+ months for the new person to get the lay of the land, and so on.

And we have basically no big name players coming out of contract this season

Just a great example of supporters making accusations about Club personnel, without ever having stepped into the Club, or seeing him perform behind the scenes

This board wanted both Reid & Hamish sacked .....plus any other employee with a Crows shirt on ......ignorance personified

We are a results industry and the employees with Crows shirts on haven’t achieved for years, that includes our rogue bonkers coach, but if you’re ok with that…….mediocrity personified.

As for Reid, he’s had some shaky times but overall has been decent. However we have completed a rebuild without an A grade midfield, so there are question marks still, no matter what his underling says about him.

Hamish, lots a first round misses, again we don’t have an A grade midfield through a rebuild.

AFC - Adelaide Forwards Club, midfield schmidfield

Really?

Nankervis as PS draft (ie last pick in the ND), Taylor (44), Keane (SSP), Nick Murray (SSP).

The table also misses Worrell after Schoenberg in the 2nd round under Don Pyke
