Huh? If Pendles is in the backline, I doubt opposition forwards are going to try to defend/negate him. I expect that they'll be trying to exploit his defensive vulnerabilities, particularly by trying to get into space behind him. They'll be doing whatever they can to make Pendles think/play defensively, not the other way around, IMO.

Anyway, let's see what happens. You speak with such aggressive certainty but really neither of us knows whether playing Pendles primarily in defence will work or not. You think it will. I don't. That's fine. Its an opinion forum, after all. Time will tell.
Hey mate, we virtually guard space in defence but that's reliant on the grid used by our high half forwards and midfield. We have a midfield and defensive grid. What's going most important is that every player knows their role. They need to know when to press and when to run to space. Pendles going to defence is about his knowledge of our game plan. Sometimes players get confused as to where to guard space. Pendles will be yelling out to players so they know when and where to go. We make sides go around us which gives the defence time to set up. There's a hell of a lot more but that's the jist of it.

Being a US resident for around 2 years you could frequently pick Aussie’s out over there due to accent. 19 out of 20 times you made sure to keep quiet and move away. New Orleans was the worst. I was asked the question “Are you all like that?” so many times. Embarrassing.
Same in London, you know Earl's Court etc, full of drunken Aussies though reckon that might be a bit pricey for some of them now.

Far out i read that as "Being a US president for around 2 years" at first glance. I was about to ask "Joe?"

Honestly though, find me the worst Australian and they'd be the Helen Lovejoy of those Southern states still embedded deep in 1934

There's people living in the Bayous (swamps ) , in the hills and towns that never see other Americans, it's strange down south. Inbreeding is also rife with the Hill billy's

Never ever be in a mixed relationship and attract the attention of an African American policeman. 🤮🤮🤮🤮 I never want to be called Master again ever ever ever. Different world, one that should have died.

Just watched the intra-club highlights on YouTube. It was actually held at night, but they lit up the training track so much you would be forgiven for thinking it was day time. Boys well and truly trained the house down.

Only some lengthy highlights but I think I saw HDM and Allan once in that footage. Steenes aerial strength was on display, just need him to be able to match it with the big boys in the ruck contests.

I was hoping they put up the Full Replay of the game

Not sure if it’s just me but I really struggle to watch training footage, even highlights like this. I just can’t bring myself to feel like it means anything. Have much more interest in watching a VFL game, even. Maybe it’s the lack of birds-eye-view.

There were a number of clips that looked like he was going one out with Smit 5 metres away flat footed. Unfortunately I think that training footage said more for Smit than Steene. That’s not writing off Steene’s ability to be the reserve ruck this year, but I would be writing off Smit’s ability to be number 3…
