I still don’t really understand opening round. How exactly does it grow the game in northern states? I could maybe understand if it was a week earlier with the NRL in Vegas, but there’s games in Sydney and Brisbane that weekend which will get all the media coverage.

How does not playing games in VIC/SA/WA make more people from NSW and QLD watch that otherwise wouldn’t be?

AFL 2IC from the Swans.
AFL GM Footy from the Lions.

Easy to see why its staying. They've gained an insight into football north of the border that makes this something they'll align to easily.
What benefit does the league get for it staying?

They could easily open the season Thurs/Fri nights in the NSW and QLD then let the rest of the round flow and still have the same impact without alienating the majority of footy fans to cater for some insecurities.

Should cancel practice games, too many injuries caused.

Are you making sure we didn’t miss the other six times you wrote the same thing last week?

Eh? I've never once written that, much less six times last week.

The only comment that came close was this from Gero:

It's a preseason practice match. We have them every season just that this is a state jumper game.

The very same injury could have occurred in the first community series warm up.

Odd ball decision by 7. Firstly underutilising him for years and now not having him at all.
Underrated caller.

Never understood that either. Wasn’t there an incident one year with BT? Reckon someone must have it in for him. Shits on all the other Ch 7 commentators

Just to be clear - this wasn't a joke about Carlton getting injuries tonight?
It was banter between myself and RPCB because of the numerous mentions about Carlton, pre-season and injuries. Sorry I didn't run it by you and the committee.

Ah so it was a joke about Carlton and injuries in pre-season. Carry on Sir Edgelord.

It's possible that Ainsworth is an upgrade on Curnow. In fact, is there any Blue in history that has averaged 4 goals per game?

I posted that on the wrong thread as a joke lol.

Charlie is going to be very hard to replace. He will get you 60-65+ goals a year. Hard to replace that output.

However, I am glad that we’ve at least tried. Ainsworth and Hayward both look like the types that we need in the forward line. Charlie and Harry just kept getting in each others way often and I am glad we don’t have that problem this year. Charlie will do great for Sydney and we’ve brought in players who will give us multiple options in the forward line. It’s Win/win IMO.

Peter McKenna is the only one, but there's only been 11 people to average 4 or more a game in history.

Cynics will say Ainsworth won't end up the 11th. To the cynics I say "We'll see about that!".

Considering there has already been 11 according to Bradesmaen, the cynics would be correct.
