Still think if you picked Reid over Allen you probably wouldn't be having the same bagging so to speak, Allen for me and boy I hope he has a fine career, it just screamed a PR pick for the Eagles.
I'm not really sure what you mean by that? Is it because he's a WA boy? If we picked Reid over Bo they'd probably have similar levels of production lol. Playing off a half forward with one of the best clearance midfields in the competition definitely gives you more opportunity to shine when you have a grand final level list.
I still couldn't believe you didn't pick Carltons selections at the time but you are right there win some lose some there.
Its 50/50, Cripps had just broken the Brownlow record and the teams only finished 1 win apart. I wanted us to pick their picks too, but hindsight is a powerful thing and people like to act that in November '24 that

Just screamed of the Eagles trying to save face after the fans blew up after the trade period. Reid would still have a better production, he hasn't been injured at least. Look I hope Bo works out, but he'd want to after the trade down. Also not sure and I did half mention it at the time that you needed a Bo Allen type. I hope he smashes it though and proves his selection. Grand Final list is a push for Freo though surely!

I mean, sure? We had to pick someone and the concerns were that Murphy didn't want to come to WA. Evidently that has proven to not be true but again, hindsight. Not in a position to be able to take a risk like that when the two were similarly rated pre-draft.

Well definitely, but Reid would not have been close to the rising star. Wouldn't be saying "wow we got a steal over every other team" or "best Reid in the west".

He has started really well this pre season on the wing with power, speed and penetration so we will see. Freo's list has been good enough to make a prelim for multiple years and they keep finding ways to fumble it lol.

Fair look I hope he smashes it. I still don’t think you got the value in the trade down but that’s a minor point. These trade downs fans always hate unless it’s a sugar hit fix (ie ready made).

The Eagles had a great chance to do well in the first round of the draft last year. They could have had one of the following combos.

1. Liam Baker and Murphy Reid
2. Joe Berry and Murphy Reid
3. Jagga Smith
4. Liam Baker and Bo Allan

If they just had to get Baker and pony up a first for him then option one was the best.

If they really disliked Jagga then option 2 was the best.

Personally think I’d have kept the pick and drafted Jagga. Can’t wait to see what he does this year and think he would have been that dynamic first touch extractor to complement Harley in the middle.

Can already confidently say based on a quarter of a preseason scratch match that Greeves will be a steal. Far too talented to slip to the rookie draft.

Indeed.

I can report that one of our draftees is already at Page 29 and none of our other draftees have crossed pg 10. He has also been doing very well on the track, so odds on for early debut.

Can't see any other draftee on any other club matching that, plus each draftee seem to have so much potential(especially the youngest) and have varied strengths and displayed them too.

So I declare Hawks as winners of 2025 draft.

Without a doubt, Greeves(35) showing his presence of mind and strength from 55 second mark onwards

Re-draft, latrelle top 5. :P all these people saying we picked him just to appease Kozzie who is locked in for 8 years is such weird, tin-foil hate, conspiracy theory nonsense :)

So glad we didn't take Sharp :)

Don't worry the whole pick three and trade back ire has been done to death on the eags board. Baffling mismanagement of our T&D hand got pantsed by the blues, tigers and hawks. Assuming we keep picks 12/14 I suspect it would of been a combo of Berry, Allan and Shanahan with Allan/Berry been the likely combo.

We literally got one of those combos.

Looks a great mover out there. I always think the young players who make it look easy make it to 200+ games. He made it look easy (albeit against traffic cones).

Keep him fit for a couple years so we can come knocking. All Falcons are ours to poach.

Eastern Ranges boy is Ollie.

Great nephew of Carji so some connection there.

Either way hands off.

that or hawks supporters spend a lot more time on bigfooty than other clubs...

Sure ... bet you $100 in your preseason match this week that Bo and Baker combined get less disposals than Jagga's 37
What's with Richmond supporters being gambling addicts?

Also, considering our gameplan consists of not over possessing the ball, it's fait accompli they'll get less. Especially when it's doubtful Baker will even play.
