TDK and the other 'athletic' rucks are all a PCL injury away from the rules being changed back (time is a flat circle in AFL-land).

No, they'll stubbornly persist with it for at least a few years now just like they will with State of Origin. If there's injuries this year they'll just say it's a small sample size and more data is needed. Or they'll argue that it's made it easier for umpires, minimised game delays, and improved the speed of the game.

Or they will just do what they always do when they change rules mid year and bring the bounce back in Round 18.

Of course they will first use data to see if the Geelong, Brisbane and Collingwood ruckmen are better now or with the centre bounce. And they will go from there.

Well...it is poetic. And apt for the greed infested, gambling addicted decay that partners our beloved game these days.

A tiny move...but a huge change. To lose a unique feature of our game is very sad.

He’s stepping down this year I think from memory in late March as AFL Commissioner so no more Brownlow speeches for him.
