Could he pinch hit in the ruck?

Yes, just very unsuccessfully.
Can't wait to see which random Eagle drew the job of going and presenting him and his family with some Eagles swag. I'm gonna say... I dunno, Sandy Brock.

I reckon one of the East Freo boys, Cripps or Yeo or Jilliams.

Bit of a manic ball-pig, similar to Baker in a way, another small terrier.
Wonder if he'll crack the 23?

Can't say I knew this kid but I can see why we've picked him up. Love the Baker comparison. I was into Grlj pre-draft as a Baker type and we've somehow snagged a 25-year-old version of him alongside Duursma, CDT and Lindsay. Not the most talented kid but he's got the work rate and seems to make solid decisions.

Yeh, he lacks polish or class, but lots of intent and work rate, hard at the ball. Finish is not too bad, can score. Bit of a like for like with the unfortunate Long.

Article in the West by Splinters following his signing which leans heavily on comments from his coach at East Fremantle, Bill Monaghan

Mainly played as an inside midfielder but was also used as a half forward, in particular in his three Simpson medal winning games

Feel like he’s going to be more a pressure forward at AFL level which he’s at least had exposure to that role

Fantastic to see him get his opportunity and it’s up to him now to make the most of it. Can only wish him well

If we don't win the WAFL this year something is wrong.
Don’t know about win (a lot of these teams’ cores have been playing together for several years) but we should definitely not be the easybeats that we’ve been pretty much since inception.

As usual a lot will depend on injuries and how many ammos we are forced to play in any given week, but at the very least barring a catastrophic injury toll we should have the depth that a number of guys who are established good state league players should be playing for the Beagles most weeks.

Murdock seems like he has more presence and grunt. A bit of a pest. Longy's got a bit more X-factor about him, albeit very subtle.

Which makes this point ironic, seeing as many of us want to see Baker played forward for this reason.

Sounds like Connor West Mrk II.

I liked his intent and attack on the ball, defensive efforts. :thumbsu:

I am not a fan of state league clubs losing their best players on the eve of the season. I feel it should close on December 31st, if you cop an injury that's just unfortunate.

Best of luck to Milan, obviously going to back him now.

Looking at his stats he draws WAY more frees than he gives away. Last four years in the WAFL he’s been paid 158 frees and only given away 68. Would assume a lot of that is because he’s short and gets taken high a lot.

Hope he enjoyed it because with the way the Beagles are usually umpired he probably will not be paid any frees this year.

The MSD is just as bad; AFL clubs just come along and poach some of the most productive state-level players.

It is obviously very shit for East Freo (or for any club that has one of their top tier players poached in pre-season or during the season), but that horse has bolted. Lots of these dudes have dreamed of getting onto an AFL list for many years, and it would be wildly unpopular among the top tier players if state leagues tried to prevent them from getting their shot at the top level.

At the very least Murdock gets to have one season where he can just train and play full time instead of working all day as a brickie or whatever and then training at night. Which is pretty great for him.

Birthdate of 30/6/2000 makes him the 14th oldest player on our list - 12 days older than Tom McCarthy

Imagine walking into an AFL club for the first time and being older than 34 of your new teammates
