Probably heard it in your own head.
Highly unlikely this is true.
Very well could be. Doesn’t change my opinion re: Tasmania.

Was pretty 50/50 whether he had a great game or a shit one last year, and probably doesn’t play much depending how Young goes, but definitely deserves to be on an AFL list especially given he is a young KPD with foot skills hitting a good age.

First point: what? Second point: absolutely true. Need some AFL intervention there bc the WAFC are shit
basically my point is it's hard to keep players originally from interstate at the club if the club is continuously struggling. Last four seasons Eagles have been bottom 4 and it doesn't seem like this season will be different.

I mean sure? It’s not really something we can posit until it does or doesn’t happen. There’s no historical evidence that it happens to us, nor is there any tangible evidence that it is going to, other than prediction

the whole point of this thread is to make a prediction about which team's rebuild will end up better though?

Oh of course, and I’m not saying you’re crazy, because the subject of go home factor has been addressed previously.

The general disdain for it comes from how out of pocket it is. Like the Harley stuff for the last 2 years. Not once has he actually given any indication he intends to leave, or even wants to, yet it’s all that got spoken about.

Point was until it does or doesn’t happen it’s just an unnecessary thing to try and assert will happen due to a pattern or trend, given the fact we don’t lose many kids unless we want to, nor have any of them suggested they feel that way

Conceded one goal to his direct opponent in the next 4 games after debut at the time this article was written.

Yeah thanks for this- was monstered in his first game by Hogan so a good recovery.

Didn’t think his end to the season was strong and the acquisition of Tyler Young would keep him out of the side this year, barring injury.

Young wasn’t great on the weekend. Perhaps he holds his spot over him after all?

Brock just needs to put on size, he'll get outbodied by forwards like Hogan. Having said that, his greatest asset is his speed - he's the fastest player on our list - so I think he's probably better suited to being that third tall coming across to spoil, as opposed to trying to wrestle big forwards.

As for Young, he's had a very interrupted preseason and only played a half last week. Didn't look particularly great yesterday but Barrass also looked fairly trash when the ball was coming in a million miles an hour every 10 seconds. Brrass already had runs on the board though, Young doesn't have nearly as much. I think they'll persist with him. Wouldn't mind seeing Brock float up to the wing either.

Either way, it's a massive downgrade going from McGovern/Barrass to what we have currently but some proper defence and pressure from the midfield would go a long way to alleviating the issue.

I think Young plays the same role Ginbey does in the event that the boy goes down or has a role change. I don’t think he steps in as KPD1 or 2 this season but he is definitely 1st man up for either role.

Personally Id persist with Young as well.
That would be the intent and I’d be disappointed if he’s not your best key defender by the end of the year.

But competition for spots is always good.

I’d be surprised if he surpasses Edwards. Since Gov’s retirement he’s top 10 in the league for intercept marks per game

Hough, Brock, Edwards. WC stacked for great defenders. Apparently they’re so busy shutting down their direct opponents, racking up elite numbers and walking into anybody’s best 23 that they forget to guard the goals.

No one has said Brock or Edwards are great defenders, Edwards is AFL standard though, Young surpassing him would be a big win.

Wait for it.

Goalposts shifting in 3, 2, 1.....
You know credit to you guys. If only your defenders put in half the effort that you do to defend their reputations.

They were playing, those blue and yellow guys trying to pick up the ball were your players.
Well, 4 of our starting nond KPD defenders weren't.

That was mostly our WAFL backline.

I thought you'd know that, considering how obsessed you seem with WCE?

I'm not surprised a Hawks fan is confused about oppo fans defending their players when the team is in the doldrums.
I know for that particular fan base the footy is only happening when they're winning, so when people follow it when they're not it's like we must be idiots to be looking for green shoots.
I bet you had much better things to do from 2019-2023 hey

Guessing he wasn't trolling around like he is now that's for sure.

Only one thing worse than a bad loser.

Is a bad winner.

Not that the Hawks have achieved a great deal yet. From their supporters you would think they are the premiers.

You think your lot don’t dish it out?

“Defending their players”, fmd. Brady Hough has been declared a better player than half the Hawks lineup.
