We barely attracted any major talent in the decade prior. It definitely helps but you've got to have your shit sorted first.

That's the big problem with North, they don't. They tried the Carlton method of throw big money at a name as coach, and like Carlton of the early 2010s, its failed.

Not to say their trading hasn't had hits though. Xerri is probably as good as any of ours.

Betts was the only one of those who was a first 22 player at the time. As a club the Crows have generally been pretty good with their recruiting lesser name players, but it’s only recently that we have been able to consistently poach other clubs better players. Dawson, Rankine, Cumming, Peatling and ANB were all safe, best 22 players that their former clubs wanted to keep.
