Yeah look, Gold Coast are a great side, but we have several key personal out, including our forward talisman and the heart and soul of our club. It's not ideal playing your first game at night on the Gold Coast, having to deal with the conditions such as the heat and humidity. Plus Gold Coast get to train on this ground for months leading into this clash, so they had a masisve advantage. Don't forget, we also had the shortest turn around of any side from the end of the 2025 season through to tonight, so we also had less of a preseason than a lot of the other sides.

Don't forget that I also coached State of Origin and had media commitments in that regard, so even less time for me to prepare out side for the start of the season.

I've mentioned this point multiple times with Michaels. It's funny. It was our gameplan, but the same coach and ganeplan is now getting rewarded whilst we are playing differently and still not getting anywhere with the umps.

"Stacked with high picks" hits different when you can trade a bunch of high picks for guys like Petracca and still get 4 of the top 20 rated players in the very same draft. It's completely manufactured this way.

Ironically 2016 we were the softest side I’ve ever witnessed in yellow and black.

Literally our game plan was conservative, bruise free and too scared to tackle.

That was with a group of high quality players too.
