You will only lose money on NAS if you trade him out, it doesn't matter what you paid for him as a season long keeper, that deal is done.
Maybe he's not a keeper

It's not crazy, his price only matters if you trade him (or he gets injured).

He'll find form soon enough. This happens every year, a premo starts slow and everyone jumps off, only to have to get him back in a month later when he comes good.

Use your trades improving your team, sideways trading premo's isn't the answer.
Jhf last year comes to mind and Dawson a couple of years ago burnt me after I traded him out

That strategy is going to lead you to the no trades club in record time.

If a person picked NAS at the start you have to ride out the price drop. He will come good.

Trading him out and then trading him back in is the definition of madness.
Not really

We have 40 trades and need to use 30 to improve our side as quickly as possible
We trade in a rookie thats on the bubble to make cash so we can upgrade and thats basically the strategy of the game
Make money fast , Improve the team as soon as possible.

Nas has a BE of 201 and price $622,300
Sinclair BE of 77 and averages 133 and along with Trac is the highest rated thats played 2 games at a price of $606,600
So logically Sinclair is a must have premium. So Prem to Prem and pocket $100k

Hoarding trades is also madness

That would be a crazy move IMO

Trade NAS to Sinclair before Nas goes down in value around $100k if another bad week and Sinclair jumps up in price
You can always trade NAS back in when he bottoms out but it could be a $200k difference between the 2

Lol.
Nas is averaging 75 which is terrible by his standards.
If he has another stinker and scores that again before starting to turn it around gradually he'll lose 60k max.

As for sinclair- if he maintains his hot form (massive "if"- he's av is 133) he'll make circa 40k tops.

So thats 100k turnaround, circa half your 200k by my calcs.

Not being a smartarse here, but have you played SC before? Genuine question.

Exactly, happens every year. Most will cop at least one underperforming premo.

Ok i take your numbers as you seem to know the formula
But $100k is still great cash when you have 40 trades.

Lets also keep in mind where Lyon is traying to play him and also other teams paying him more attention
Sinclair has been doing it for years and is more a sure thing ATM

If NAS scores B 2 B 100's he'll lose $60k, it's not the end of the world. Sinclair is scoring at 133, that is unsustainable and he'll revert.

There's a big chance that NAS reverts to his comfort space behind the ball and reignites his scoring whilst at the same time quelling Sinclair's scoring.

The sort of strategy you're considering can work in AF but this format doesn't lend itself to it.

BOMBERBLITZ may have something to say about hoarding trades

They finished 7th overall last year and came home like a train as they had trades in the bank.

Yeah i have not that great at it but lets see how we go
I will get Nas when he gets to $550k and holding Sinclair
All good. But like Nelso said sideways trading premo's in round 1 is a recipe for running out of trades with an incomplete team.

40 trades feels like a lot but trust me they will soon disappear. I'd advise not focusing on price changes of the premo's in your team as it doesn't matter really. You pick them to keep all season.

Having a team of 23 premo's after the midseason byes is the goal, even if a few might have lost money through the year. My best year in SC I started Patrick farking Cripps at $635k and held his useless pea-hearted arse all season for a 97 average (including an un-injured mother****ing 26 in the last round). So it can be done.

Now I've remembered that I need to go and stab my Cripps Voodoo doll a bit.

Chasing the fast starters can often be a negative move too.

As you say they will drop their scoring at some point, and you've overpaid for what they give you.

I agree with you that 100k gain is borderline acceptable with 40 trades- but with the caveat that you nailed your start team rookies etc and don't really have any other corrections (and you have a good run with injuries).

But the nas to sinclair maths getting to that borderline acceptable 100k gain would require 2 unlikely things to occur simulaneously- ie sincs to continue to way overachieve AND nas to continue to way underachieve.

Probably Young > Fonti. Fonti looks decent, will make cash & firms up my defence a bit which is nice. Leaves me $348.4k in the bank too which is lovely. Windsor > Houston a decent shout next round if Windsor doesnt do great.

I'm thinking Gulden to either Jackson or Xerri - who would everyone go with there? Jackson seems more reliable but Xerri's fixture is very tempting.

Gulden > Merrett
Phillipou > Murdoch (via putting Petracca forward)

$100k left over.

Think that'll do me for the week

Brayshaw > Naicos next week if Brayshaw has another stinker
I'll have a look at Cook as well

Potentially Gulden and Young to Jackson and Fonti.

Don’t want to make 2 injury trades after round 1 but here we are. Midfield is already running on fumes this week and can’t go Gulden to Jackson in one hit.

Doing Gulden to Parish and pocketing the cash.

I need some coin to fip Kercher next week. Could be for Bont/Holmes, see how I am feeling. Probably boosting to do rookie correction and just sit my hands till like round 4 and 5.
